The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences Library is looking for a

Campus Services Team Leader (0.8 FTE)

The team members serve as hosts and hostesses at the venues. The team is responsible for:

  • a welcoming, accessible, and attractive library and study environment;
  • the physical collection and the on-site lending and delivery of books and other materials;
  • front-line information services, both on-site and through our digital service portal;
  • helping visitors find their way around the library locations;
  • hosting groups for guided tours and introductions to the library;
  • helping out at small events held at the library.

The library and its services are constantly evolving. The team is tasked with keeping pace with these developments and continuously improving its own capabilities. Key concepts in this regard include service-driven and demand-oriented offerings, self-organizing capabilities, and a sense of ownership.

What will you be doing?

As a Team Leader, you will manage the team at the various library locations. You will provide guidance and direction within the framework of the UvA-HvA Library Policy Plan. In this role, you will work closely with the service owner for customer service and study spaces and the Programming Project Leader.

 

Your responsibilities and duties:

  • provide leadership and guidance to team members and oversee team activities through coaching and mentoring;
  • implementing HRM policy within the team;
  • contribute to organizational development as outlined in the strategic plan. Together with the service owner for customer service and study places, you will develop a vision for (the renewal of) service delivery in these areas;
  • ensure the content and implementation of the departmental plan as a derivative of the policy plan;
  • optimizing processes related to the library's front-line services;
  • oversee the design and layout of the facilities at the locations;
  • working with the team to assist the Programming Manager in developing and implementing programming at the various locations;
  • coordinate with relevant stakeholders within and outside the organization;
  • maintaining a relevant network within and outside the AUAS.

 

What are you bringing?

As a manager at the AUAS Library, you have a coaching leadership style, you are empathetic, and you can easily put yourself in the shoes of both customers and staff.

 

We are looking for someone:

  • with at least three years of experience in a leadership role in a dynamic environment;
  • who is a dynamic and enthusiastic (team) coach who knows how to bring together the mind, hands, and heart. You enjoy bringing out the best in people and supporting and guiding them in their professional development;
  • with proven experience and a strong affinity for customer service and front-line support;
  • a service- and results-oriented mindset; you get a sense of satisfaction from achieving good results;
  • a college-level (HBO+) level of work and thinking;
  • who can adapt quickly and keep a good overview of everything going on within your team;
  • can communicate effectively at various levels; you are confident and self-assured; you are a reliable point of contact for all employees and managers;
  • who has an excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written, and a good command of the English language.
