As a team leader, you will lead a team of dedicated information specialists who provide support for teaching and research. You are the team leader we are looking for if you have experience guiding a team through a development process in a coaching and inspiring manner, working together with the team to shape our services. The Library is currently undergoing a process of organizational development. We have begun reorganizing the existing teams of (information) specialists to enhance the quality of our services and facilitate the further professionalization of our staff. The team you will lead will be part of this process. Your role is also part of this development.
What you will be doing
As Team Leader, you will lead the UvA Information Specialists team. You will provide guidance and direction within the framework of the UvA/HvA Library Policy Plan. You will:
- managing the staff and the work within the team;
- provide overall guidance to the team and focus on results;
- implement HRM policies within the team;
- ensure the development and implementation of the departmental plan as a derivative of the policy plan;
- contribute to organizational development as outlined in the strategic plan;
- contribute to the UvA/HvA Library’s customer relationship management.
What we offer you
For this position, we are offering a contract for 32 to 38 hours per week for a period of one year, with a two-month probationary period. If you prove to be a good fit, this will be followed by a permanent contract. Your salary will range from €4,537 to €6,209 gross per month, based on a full 38-hour workweek, depending on your relevant experience at the start of employment. This excludes an 8% vacation allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus. TheCollective Labor Agreement for Dutch Universitiesapplies. Here’s what we’re asking
For this position, we are looking for someone with at least three years of experience in a leadership role managing highly educated professionals in a dynamic environment. You are committed to bringing out the best in people and the team, and to supporting and guiding them in their professional development.
You also have:
- the communication skills to serve as a competent discussion partner for both employees and managers;
- experience and/or a strong affinity for information services in a higher education setting. Ideally, you are familiar with library support for teaching or research, or you have the ability to quickly acquire the necessary subject-matter expertise;
- A service- and results-oriented mindset; you get a sense of satisfaction from achieving good results.
- an academic level of work and thinking;
- excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written, and a good command of the English language.
Having a first aid certification or a willingness to obtain one in the near future is a plus.
