As the service team leader, you will manage the service team together with two fellow team leaders. Our service team interacts directly with our visitors every day and welcomes them to our museum. As a result, you will spend a lot of time in the museum. Together with your fellow team leaders, you will ensure that our team is welcoming and customer-focused.
As a team leader, you will be responsible for a versatile and diverse team of approximately 55 staff members and volunteers. Hospitality, teamwork, and a high degree of independence are key priorities. On average, you will serve as duty manager for 10 days a month, overseeing all operational processes at our museum. You support the service team by reviewing key matters during the daily kick-off meeting and providing guidance as needed during emergencies or when handling complaints. You also wrap up the day together with the team by evaluating it and identifying areas for improvement. You see it as a challenge to guide, coach, and develop the service team every day, so they can bring out the best in themselves and in each other. You therefore have an eye for the conversations and evaluations needed to achieve this.
As a team leader, you’ll work alongside colleagues who develop our museum’s exhibitions and various programs. Because you’re on-site at the museum every day and gather feedback from the team, you’ll be able to discuss areas for improvement within the project groups. You are responsible for the implementation of a number of projects and ensure the successful execution of our programming. Examples include the Christmas program or the Apeldoorn Palace Weekend. In this way, you contribute to the continuous improvement of our exhibitions, programming, and events.
You are able to effectively balance your focus between team development and your responsibility for a number of key areas within the department. This includes drawing up a team budget, creating an annual plan for our volunteers, organizing training sessions, managing scheduling, and building the team. You will also carry out these tasks in collaboration with the two other team leaders.
You are eager to learn and actively seek to build connections with the team and the colleagues you work with. You have extensive experience managing and leading a diverse team and possess knowledge of team development. You have experience preparing budgets and staffing plans and translating these into annual plans. In addition to Dutch, you are also fluent in German and/or English or another language such as French or Arabic. Setting priorities and planning come easily to you. You hold a bachelor’s degree and have demonstrable relevant work experience. No two days are the same as a team leader, and you thrive in that environment. You adapt well to changes and switch easily between different target groups. We are open seven days a week, all year round. To make this possible, we expect you to be willing to work on weekends and holidays.
