Melkweg
Melkweg is a multidisciplinary venue housed in a unique building in Amsterdam near Leidseplein. Melkweg is a music venue, theater, cinema, talent development center, and exhibition space. Its varied program reaches a broad audience from Amsterdam, the rest of the Netherlands, and abroad. Melkweg is open year-round and attracts approximately 500,000 visitors annually. Melkweg has approximately 300 employees.

The music lineup ranges from hip-hop and metal to jazz and techno. There are three concert halls in the building: the OZ (capacity 700), the MAX (capacity 1,500), and the UP (capacity 250). There is also a movie theater and an exhibition space. In addition, Melkweg organizes concerts and other events at external venues.

About the role
As a Senior Production Manager, you are responsible for production preparation and planning for concerts, club nights, performances, exhibitions, and other programs and events. You are the central figure and the link between all the different parties within and outside Melkweg, ensuring that every show is a huge success. You also serve as a mentor for less experienced colleagues. In addition, you are responsible for one or more cross-show projects aimed at establishing or improving processes within Melkweg.

The production manager reviews riders for feasibility, negotiates with artists and tour managers on matters such as schedules, venue layout, decor, and catering, and books hotels and transportation —all while keeping the budget in mind. The production manager also rents the necessary equipment and is responsible for providing information to stage management, technical staff, the front office, and management.

Although, as a senior production manager, you will primarily be working at your computer, we also expect you to regularly meet with artists and external contacts, attend (extensive) programs and events, and serve as the point of contact for artists, external contacts, and internal departments. In addition, every production manager performs one stage manager shift each month.

Under the full responsibility of the Head of Production and in collaboration with other (Senior) Production Managers, the Senior Production Manager contributes to the implementation of the program, maintains contact with booking agencies, agents, and distributors, and provides information to the relevant departments. The Senior Production Manager reports to the Head of Production. The Head of Production reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

We are looking for someone who…:

• Has demonstrable relevant work experience (at least 5 years);
• Ability to work independently and with attention to detail;
• has a good command of spoken and written Dutch and English;
• has strong interpersonal and communication skills;
•  has a basic understanding of stage technology;
• Knows how to get things done

Experience in the pop music industry is a plus
A deep love of music and other art forms is a must

We offer:

Initially, a temporary 12-month contract will be agreed upon, with the intention of extending the contract based on satisfactory performance.
