A digitally secure Netherlands, where we capitalize on the economic and social opportunities offered by digitalization while safeguarding our security and public values. That is the objective of the recently published Dutch Cybersecurity Strategy. One of the strategy’s goals is for the Netherlands to have a strong cybersecurity knowledge and innovation chain within six years and for the Dutch labor market to be able to meet the growing demand for cybersecurity experts.
As a (senior) policy officer for knowledge and innovation in cybersecurity at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, this will be a key guiding principle in your work. After all, how do we continue to innovate? How do we ensure more research, education, and new innovative cybersecurity products and services? How do we address our digital security and the rise of the quantum computer? How do we ensure a sufficient supply of cybersecurity experts? How do we capitalize on the economic opportunities for the Dutch cybersecurity industry?
These are incredibly interesting and complex questions that you will explore with your colleagues, alongside various organizations and platforms from the private and public sectors as well as the academic community. One example is the dcypher collaboration platform, where you will help shape our contribution and direction. Through the National Coordination Center, we actively help shape the direction of the European Cybersecurity Competence Center and its associated European network and funding from the Netherlands.
In this role, you will promote and implement innovative initiatives. This often involves balancing the diverse interests of various stakeholders. You will therefore also work to build support within the partnerships.
To start with, you’ll be working on topics we’re currently addressing through the dcypher platform, such as the roadmaps for cryptographic communication tools and automated vulnerability research. How do we move forward with these topics? What are some concrete projects we can implement with companies, research institutions, and other government agencies? How can we support and encourage them? What are the next topics we need to tackle to achieve the goals outlined in the strategy? These are questions that will certainly keep you busy.
