More about this organization

As a proactive team leader at De Sociale Maatschap, you’ll have plenty of freedom to work with your team to find creative solutions. We won’t be looking over your shoulder every step of the way; we trust that you know what you’re doing to get the team up and running and keep it moving forward. That’s how De Sociale Maatschap operates as an organization.

No two Amsterdammers are alike, and no two questions or problems are the same. In our neighborhood teams, all local residents can turn to our neighborhood team staff with their questions. All kinds of Amsterdammers come to us—from seniors to young people, refugees, and families facing multiple challenges. Sometimes the questions are about a loose sidewalk tile or finding housing; other times, they concern informal caregiving, mental health issues, or addiction. There are also vulnerable and/or care-shy Amsterdammers who do not come to us on their own. Even then, our proactive neighborhood team members step in and take the time to build a relationship step by step. With boundless creativity in finding solutions and great patience, they ensure they connect with these individuals.

As a “Together We’ll Get There” team leader, you facilitate and support your team members with the right resources so they can continue to do their jobs well and provide appropriate care to the people of Amsterdam. By fostering connection and focusing on sustainable employability, you motivate them to take ownership of their work, tackle team tasks, and function as an independent team. You share the vision and plans with your team(s), clarify everyone’s role and expectations, and recognize how each person’s individual talents contribute to the common goal.

You will be part of a team of 10 team leaders. Together with your fellow team leaders, you will ensure that the (neighborhood) teams carry out their agreed-upon tasks and seek out new opportunities to improve service delivery. You will report periodically to the Manager/Portfolio Holder. You will also maintain contact with external parties and promote a positive public image. You establish and maintain close ties with the municipality and other partners. Your team consists of between 25 and 30 employees. You are responsible for your team’s HRM cycle and support your team members with the right resources so they can continue to do their jobs effectively (absenteeism, staffing, facilities, safety, housing, etc.).

Typical of De Sociale Maatschap

As a proactive team leader at De Sociale Maatschap, you’ll have plenty of freedom to work with your team to find creative solutions. We won’t be looking over your shoulder every step of the way; we trust that you know what you’re doing to get the team up and running and keep it moving forward. That’s how De Sociale Maatschap operates as an organization.

Here’s what we’re looking for…

As a new team leader, you have a positive and energetic outlook on life. You have extensive experience coaching employees and building new teams, preferably in the social sector. Here’s what else we’re looking for in you:

  • You have completed a relevant associate's degree program.
  • Ideally, you have a background in or experience with social work, debt counseling, or community-based social services.
  • You are driven, enterprising, and a natural connector.
  • You set boundaries, but you’re also willing to be a trailblazer and take risks.
  • You have experience working in the social sector.
  • Ideally, you are familiar with Amsterdam’s social services and healthcare network.
  • You reflect on your own actions and enjoy learning from your experiences.

…and here’s what we offer you

De Sociale Maatschap is a thoroughly social organization. We care not only about the people of Amsterdam, but also about our own staff. We welcome you to a team of friendly colleagues who are all in it together, each with their own expertise and talent. You’ll immediately notice that they enjoy working together, learning, and growing. No one feels superior to anyone else. Everyone is eager to help you or bounce ideas off you. We’re always open to your ideas, initiatives, and insights.

People really enjoy working at De Sociale Maatschap. Of course, everyone says that! But—here’s the proof—many of our colleagues have been with us for over fifteen years. Naturally, we’d love for you to stick around for a long time, too. That’s why we’re offering you a one-year contract with the possibility of a permanent position. You can also count on:

  • A salary in accordance with the Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement (Scale 10): a minimum of €3,343 and a maximum of €4,927 for full-time employment (36 hours)
  • an inspiring training program in Stress-Sensitive Working (SSW), the methodological foundation of our organization and theoretical framework
  • An individual flex budget: convert 18.5% of your gross salary into extra pay or time off
  • A personalized career budget: choose a course or activity that energizes you
  • working hours that can be determined by mutual agreement
  • a laptop and a smartphone
