The Humanitas Amsterdam & Diemen team consists of 22 enthusiastic and socially engaged colleagues. We are a warm, close-knit, and dynamic team. The team has an informal atmosphere, and we look out for one another and our volunteers. Each year, the team supports more than 800 volunteers in assisting over 1,000 Amsterdam residents who temporarily need a helping hand with issues such as loneliness, loss, parenting and growing up, incarceration, and finances.

The department has been growing in recent years. At the same time, the life situations of the participants we support are often more complex than before. The majority of our revenue comes from grants. Our goal is to become less dependent on them.

We are looking for a professional and collaborative Regional Manager
32–36 hours per week, based in Amsterdam (temporary and freelance options negotiable)

What does your job entail:

You will ensure that Humanitas’s staff and volunteers can support the residents of Amsterdam with enthusiasm, expertise, and a sense of fulfillment. In doing so, you will work closely with the (volunteer) board. You will be responsible for securing the necessary funding to cover costs. As the department’s public face, you will oversee its external positioning. In addition, you will be part of the Management Team of the Northwest District, which is led by the District Manager.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Leading the team
  • Developing and achieving departmental objectives within the national association framework
  • Responsible for submitting and managing grant and funding applications, withsupport from the office manager
  • Preparation of (balanced) budgets, grant and funding applications, substantiveaccountability reports, progress reports, and annual reports
  • Strong focus on relationship management and network development
  • Ensure the department is well-positioned and represented
  • Informing and advising the department board on local policy

What we are asking for:

  • Relevant degree at the higher professional education (HBO+) level
  • Demonstrable management and leadership skills and experience
  • Experience managing various funding streams while maintaining control and focus
  • Strong communication skills in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment
  • An affinity with Humanitas and the ability to embrace our core values
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws and regulations
  • Familiarity with Amsterdam’s social services is a plus
  • Preferably living in the Amsterdam area
  • Ideally, you are familiar with the dynamics and challenges of working in avolunteer organization
