Batavialand is on the verge of a major transformation. We plan to consolidate the three locations and their associated functions into a single site. We are currently laying the groundwork for this transformation and developing a revised vision that includes a new integrated museum concept. We are working closely with the three government bodies investing in this transformation: the Province of Flevoland, the national government, and the Municipality of Lelystad.
Batavialand has a Board of Trustees that oversees the achievement of its (social) objectives within the broadest possible framework, as well as the general conduct of business within the foundation and its affiliated organization.
The Supervisory Board plays a supervisory, advisory, and employer role, which it carries out in a professional and independent manner. The members advise the director, both upon request and on their own initiative. The board is responsible for its own composition and ensures expertise, diversity, and independence. The board strives for a diverse membership.
This supervisory role applies, in any case, to:
The general qualities of the members;
The candidate has proven administrative and/or supervisory experience, as well as a solid understanding of the principles of good governance. The candidate has a vision regarding societal developments that also impact Museum Batavialand. Drawing on their own perspective, the candidate can make a constructive contribution to the supervisory role.
The Supervisory Board meets 4–5 times a year. One or more working visits and/or meetings are held annually. In addition, there are two committees: the Compensation Committee and the Audit Committee. Once a new member joins, it is customary to reassign areas of focus or portfolios, including that of the chair.
