We are looking for a

Project Manager, Area Development

A reliable networker with a bird's-eye view and a focus on spatial projects

36 hours per week

Here's what you do

As a project manager for area development, you oversee projects through a wide range of phases: from concept to completion. You keep track of what’s happening both within and outside the organization, and you always look beyond your own responsibilities. Even before the project gets underway, your value is already clear: you have a knack for getting those who are key to the final outcome excited about your plans. You ensure you gather the information you need and bring order to the chaos of disciplines and people who must contribute to your project. You know how to organize what you cannot do yourself and are open to accepting help even when it is not offered. A well-structured project brief is your first milestone. You direct the execution, make adjustments where necessary, and keep the momentum going where others hesitate. You play an active role in collaborating with your civil service and administrative clients. Together, you know how to keep the right people inside and outside the organization informed and engaged, working toward the set program/project objectives. In Zeist, we are convinced that the real experts are found outside City Hall: in the community. That is why you enjoy getting out into the community to make the most of our residents’ ideas and initiative. Upon completion of your program or project, it is crystal clear who takes over which responsibilities from you and how to proceed. You know what you stand for and what you’re aiming for; you easily establish contact and connections while remaining independent and always focused on your goal. It would take a miracle for you not to deliver a good result, because you take a creative approach to finding solutions. But when it comes to time and budget, you stay within the lines.

You have an affinity for the issues that matter to a municipality. Think, for example, of housing, urban development, sustainability, and the economy. Your focus will be on spatial planning projects, but you’re also eager to roll up your sleeves for other initiatives. Leading projects is your specialty, and you know where to find the experts when it comes to the technical details. And variety keeps you on your toes, after all. As an area development project manager, you are the face of the larger and more complex projects. This also includes programs with various sub-projects. You are also the rock in the surf, an inspiration, and a sparring partner for the other project managers. You play a key role and take responsibility for the continued development of the Project Office team.

This is you

  •  You have a university degree in a relevant field (such as urban planning, regional planning, public administration, or architecture/civil engineering);
  • You have extensive experience with strategic and highly complex projects and programs. Since your focus will be on spatial projects, preferably in the field of spatial planning;
  • You embrace project-based creation;
  • You have a keen political sense and are mindful of administrative sensitivities;
  • You know your coworkers inside and out, which is handy because that way you always know who to turn to for what;
  • But you also know what you’re good at and what we can hold you accountable for. You take responsibility for your (project) results;
  • Your natural enthusiasm helps you build rapport with people and get them to work with you;
  • You are unwavering when it comes to sticking to budgets and deadlines.
