As a Project Manager for Integrated Social Services, you’ll play a key role in supporting vulnerable residents of Amsterdam through interventions focused on food, shelter, medical care, and more. You will lead a team of specialists, oversee the big picture and annual plans, and work closely with partner organizations to make a real impact. You are strategically strong, an experienced coach, and know how to build sustainable partnerships.

Are you an experienced project manager who identifies with a coaching leadership style and building bridges? Do you recognize opportunities and know how to link them to developments and relationships to deliver impactful social services?

The project manager leads the Integrated Assistance team, which consists of approximately 8 employees. The project manager reports to the Operational Team Leader for the Amsterdam-Amstelland region. This position is based in Amsterdam.

What are you going to do?

The long-term (economic) consequences of COVID-19, a housing crisis, high energy costs, and many other global and local social challenges mean that in Amsterdam we see many people in need who have nowhere to turn for support. Or people who, without guidance, cannot find their way to help. This includes both Amsterdam residents with legal residency status and those without valid residency documents, who often face multiple challenges and are no longer able to find a way out on their own.

Through an integrated approach to assistance, these vulnerable individuals are supported in meeting their basic needs through interventions focused on food, hygiene, shelter, access to medical care, mental health support, and opportunities for self-reliance. Where possible, efforts are made to refer them to other appropriate services to truly help them move forward.

As Project Manager for Integrated Social Services, you are responsible for organizing the implementation and further development of the aforementioned interventions. You lead the team and work with them to explore how the existing approach and the relevant interventions can reinforce one another. You do this with a keen eye for social developments, opportunities, and challenges, and in close collaboration with partner organizations.

As Project Manager for Integrated Social Services:

  • you will lead the Integrated Assistance team, a group of young professionals who specialize in food assistance, school meals, undocumented migrants, and psychosocial support,
  • You act as a leadership coach for the team members and ensure a clear overview of the various programs,
  • You will be responsible for preparing the annual plans and budget, as well as overseeing their implementation,
  • Are you familiar with project monitoring, evaluation, and data recording for the purposes of tracking progress, managing project risks, and preparing management reports?
  • You will be responsible for the physical and digital helpdesks and the recently opened support center in Amsterdam-Zuidoost,
  • you are a strong strategic partner for the municipality, partner organizations, and foundations,
  • Are you looking for new partnerships and (financial) support,
  • You will be responsible for managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders (municipal management, foundations, VBA, and national and international Red Cross organizations),
  • you maintain contact with other Red Cross programs,
  • conduct internal and external advocacy.

What do you bring to the table?

We value diversity—in background and experience. We need people from diverse cultural backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, and age groups to fulfill our mission.

  • You are accustomed to coordinating multiple activities in a flexible environment.
  • You have at least 5–7 years of proven experience managing a team.
  • You are a strategic thinker who can write project plans.
  • You are a lobbyist and relationship manager.
  • You see opportunities and solutions.
  • You're good at setting priorities and have no trouble meeting deadlines.
  • You possess results-oriented and team-oriented skills.
  • You have demonstrable experience with or an affinity for the target group of undocumented migrants.
  • You have a relevant network in this specific field.
  • You identify with the fundamental principles of the Red Cross and act in accordance with them.
  • You have a good command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.

What we offer you

The salary for this position falls under pay scale 11 of the NRK collective bargaining agreement, depending on experience (min. €3,869.44 to max. €5,031.20 gross per month for a full-time 40-hour workweek). A one-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.

In addition to your monthly salary, you’ll receive an Individual Choice Budget (ICB) of 18.9%, which includes vacation pay and a year-end bonus. You can choose how to receive or use this budget.
