The Royal Carré Theatre is renowned for its exclusive lineup of both national and international theater productions of the highest caliber. From circus to cabaret and from pop concerts to opera, Carré offers a unique theatrical experience for everyone. For over 135 years, 400,000 visitors have made their way to the theater on the Amstel every year to experience the magic of Carré. Are you ready to join the team at the most iconic theater in the Netherlands?
At Carré, we actively embrace diversity. We view diversity not only as a goal for our theater, but also as a necessity for remaining relevant. Diversity and inclusion go hand in hand, and fostering dialogue on these topics is an integral part of our culture. In this regard, we focus on four key areas: staff, audience, programming, and partners. As D&I Program Manager, you’ll have a broad role consisting of various projects aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion. Your focus will be on the audience and staff.
Within the audience theme, you’ll be responsible for the Cultuurbank. The Cultuurbank is an initiative aimed at lowering barriers to cultural experiences and reaching audiences who would not normally visit Carré due to financial, physical, or mental challenges. The Cultuurbank has been in existence for a year and a half, and there are still plenty of opportunities to professionalize it, for example by attracting new partners or increasing brand awareness outside of Amsterdam. As Program Manager, you will take the Cultuurbank to the next level by firmly establishing the concept and further rolling out communication efforts. You will be responsible for determining the strategy and managing day-to-day operations. To this end, you will collaborate with colleagues from the Carré Fund and Marketing. At the same time, you will supervise the Cultuurbank Project Assistant in carrying out daily operational tasks. Finally, you will also give presentations to colleagues, boards, charities, and other cultural institutions about the importance and progress of the Cultuurbank.
In terms of personnel, Carré believes it is important that everyone experiences their work environment as safe and pleasant and that we treat each other as equals and with respect. We strive for a work environment where everyone feels welcome. When filling vacancies, we pay close attention to inclusive recruitment and selection. Given the importance of this topic, we want to focus more on it. As D&I Program Manager, you’ll have the freedom to identify opportunities and to devise, set up, and implement projects aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion. You’ll be at the heart of the organization, sensing what’s going on and initiating conversations. You’ll work closely with colleagues in HR, and by keeping everyone engaged, you’ll ensure that our goals are achieved.
You have extensive experience in this or a similar position, combined with a college-level education and way of thinking, preferably a completed relevant bachelor’s degree. An affinity for the theater/cultural sector is a plus.
No two people are alike. The Royal Theater Carré strives to foster an organizational culture in which everyone feels welcome and safe. All employees should be able to be themselves and be given the freedom and recognition to contribute to the theater in their own way. We endorse the Code of Inclusion & Diversity in the Cultural Sector—the Diversity & Inclusion Code.
