De Gezonde Stad is looking for a new treasurer to start immediately. Is this the right fit for you? Read more below about De Gezonde Stad, the board, and the job description.
De Gezonde Stad is a foundation dedicated to making Amsterdam a sustainable and healthy city. We do this by partnering with a community of Amsterdammers and other city leaders to launch projects and events, and by supporting residents with sustainable initiatives.
Sustainability can be a vast and broad concept. Where do you start? De Gezonde Stad believes we should start where we can make an immediate difference. That’s right—in the city where we live and work. This isn’t just fun; it’s also desperately needed! Because Amsterdam is getting busier, more densely built-up, warmer, wetter, and less green.
De Gezonde Stad is working to build a sustainable Amsterdam—not by just talking about it, but by taking action! De Gezonde Stad doesn’t do this alone, but together. Action brings about change. That’s why we launch projects and organize events together. Check out our projects at degezondestad.org.
The board oversees the organization and the director’s performance. The foundation is the formal employer of the staff. The director of the De Gezonde Stad Foundation has ultimate responsibility for the organization. The board meets with the director five times a year and conducts a self-evaluation once a year in a separate meeting. Meetings with the team are optional.
The position of board member is unpaid. There is an enthusiastic and informal atmosphere within the foundation and on the board.
The board currently consists of four members. Marieke van Doorninck is the board chair, and Stijn Frankfoorder is the interim treasurer. Esther Vlaswinkel and Ingrid van Rossum are general members. Once a new treasurer has been appointed, Stijn Frankfoorder will return to his role as a general member.
Ideally, the board consists of five members who rotate every three years. Each member brings their own perspective, network, and area of expertise to provide the independent but relatively small team with the best possible support through advice, creative input, and the expansion of the network.
The treasurer manages the organization's funds. The treasurer is therefore responsible for the foundation's finances.
This position is on a volunteer basis
The estimated time commitment is an average of 1 hour per week. In the first few months, it may be 2 hours per week, but that will gradually decrease to 1 hour or less.
