UN Global Compact NL is the Dutch network of the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. We work with companies, governments, and civil society organizations to accelerate their contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the United Nations’ Ten Principles. Our team in the Netherlands is small, dedicated, and internationally oriented. From the Malietoren in The Hague, we work every day to build a more sustainable future.

Due to business growth and our commitment to professionalization, we are seeking an Operations Manager to strengthen our internal organization and ensure it is future-ready. You will work closely with the Executive Director and the Office Manager to ensure that our operations are as professional and impactful as our mission.

What will you be doing?

You’ll work with us to further develop every aspect of our professional internal organization. We’re just getting started with smarter use of digital systems to ensure our processes run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. You combine strategic insight with a hands-on approach, have a knack for working with people, and have experience in this area. We’re looking for someone who feels at home in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Organizational Development & Operations Management

  • Identifying risks and opportunities within business operations and initiating improvement projects.
  • Establishing a future-proof organization and HR policies, employment terms and conditions, and sustainable employability.
  • Optimizing digital workflows, dashboards, and information management, and selecting an external IT service provider. 
  • Exploring and implementing (AI) applications that make processes smarter and more efficient.

Finance 

  • Coordinating the financial administration in collaboration with an external accounting firm and the office manager.
  • Set up the transfer of invoicing from our headquarters in New York and implement integration with Salesforce.
  • Preparing budgets, forecasts, and periodic reports for our board

Who are you?

You have a keen eye for organization, processes, and quality, and you feel right at home in a small, international, and mission-driven organization.

  • At least 6 years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Strong organizational skills and a proactive, solution-oriented attitude.
  • Experience with financial processes, managing external service providers, and digital innovation, including AI capabilities.
  • Alignment with the mission of the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals.
  • A people-oriented approach and excellent communication skills in Dutch and English. 

What do we offer?

You’ll be part of a small, enthusiastic team in the Netherlands and an international network spanning 63 countries. You’ll have plenty of room to take the initiative and the chance to make a direct contribution to a more sustainable world.

  • A meaningful role with a social impact.
  • A contract for 20–24 hours per week.
  • A salary between €50,000 and €56,000 (based on a full-time 37.5-hour workweek), depending on experience.
  • An attractive benefits package, in line with the NGO sector, a generous pension plan, 28 days of vacation, and two additional bridge days around the holidays. The salary range includes vacation pay and a 13th-month bonus based on full-time employment. 
  • You'll be working at an easily accessible location, close to The Hague Central Station and the Haagse Bos, which is perfect for a quick walk during your break.
  • A healthy work environment: you can use the gym in the Malietoren, and fresh fruit is available in the office every day.
