The OBVW has four enthusiastic and experienced coordinators who are responsible for developing engaging public programs in various areas: Social Services, Education and Youth Programs, and Filmhuis Wassenaar. We are also welcoming a junior marketing and communications officer who is eager to learn and grow. Our new manager will be the direct supervisor of this team. Together with the Executive Director and the Libraries Manager, you will form the library’s management team.
As a hands-on manager, you bring out the best in your team to take our programs and products to the next level together. You maintain a strategic and financial overview, identify and initiate opportunities for internal and external collaboration, and can clearly articulate how our programming contributes to the library’s goals. You oversee the utilization of sub-budgets and monitor revenue and expenses by domain.
There are still untapped opportunities in the areas of communication and marketing. With your knowledge and expertise, you will bring structure to our marketing strategy, put it into practice, and manage the marketing and communications staff member. Under your guidance, you will help this colleague grow from a junior to a mid-level role. When necessary, you will also take on MarCom tasks yourself, such as preparing the annual report and handling press relations.
In Voorschoten and Wassenaar, you’ll actively reach out to expand and strengthen our network. You’ll help turn opportunities within the network into concrete results.
The team and management hope to find a new colleague with an open-minded attitude and a sense of humor. You enjoy a coaching leadership style: seeing your team members grow brings you joy. As a coaching leader, you focus on collaboration, both internally and externally. You inspire people and bridge the gaps between different areas.
In addition to taking a broad interest in social issues, you’re observant when needed and help maintain calm and stability within your team. For example, you step in when you see team members getting bogged down in administrative or financial tasks, even though their strengths lie in the actual work. Finally, you’re intrinsically motivated to contribute to a diverse and inclusive library.
Your future team and the management team consider it essential that you have demonstrable and substantial experience in:
Experience working in a public library and/or the nonprofit sector is a significant advantage. The same applies to experience with grants and funding.
