Are you the unifying leader with a vision for learning and development?

What are you going to do?

As an experienced professional in this field, you know how to support employees and teams in a complex organization in their professional development. You will be part of the Management Team (MT) of the Amstel Academy & Amsterdam UMC Academy and will work closely with various stakeholders both within and outside Amsterdam UMC. You will report to the director of the training institute (Amstel Academy and Amsterdam UMC Academy).

As a training manager, you will use your leadership and expertise to guide a team of 35 dedicated training professionals. You are a strategic partner in learning, development, and training, and you know better than anyone how to translate a vision for learning and development into practical applications that contribute to the professional growth of employees and the quality of the organization. In addition, you contribute to the national innovation agenda for learning and development in healthcare and ensure that national and regional programs align seamlessly with the needs of our stakeholders.

Amsterdam UMC’s strategic direction serves as a guide for future-proof learning and development plans. In close collaboration with the HR department, you and your team will work on implementing these plans. You will implement annual plans as drafted by the divisions, identify the common themes within them, and translate these into policies, recommendations, and a suitable range of learning activities. Whether it involves face-to-face training, online learning, or coaching, you will ensure that the interventions align with the organization’s needs and the employees’ requirements.

In addition, you will play a key role in the further development of the Learning Management System (LMS), digital tools, and other educational support IT systems. You will do this in close collaboration with the Educational Advisory and Innovation Team. Your team offers a broad range of subject-specific training and support, ranging from generic competencies and leadership development to coaching, project management, team development, and the professional development of teachers and trainers in the healthcare sector.

As the Training Manager, you will be responsible—in consultation with the Director of Operations—for ensuring the sound financial management of the Amsterdam UMC Academy, and you will actively contribute to relevant networks both within and outside Amsterdam UMC. You will serve as an ambassador for learning and development, both regionally and nationally.

What should you bring?

  • Results-oriented: You are results-oriented and quality-focused, and you help shape the Academy’s positioning both within Amsterdam UMC and in the region.
  • Innovative: You have an interest in educational innovation, technology, and digital tools.
