More about this organization
The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, an impressive historic building with classical architecture and a green lawn in front of it.

The Concertgebouw is one of the most visited concert halls in the world, hosting over 900 events and welcoming approximately 750,000 visitors each year. The acoustics of our halls are world-renowned; nowhere else does classical music sound more beautiful. But we offer much more than just classical music: you can also enjoy pop, jazz, film music, hip-hop, children’s concerts, and much more. We generate 95% of our own revenue. With an enthusiastic, close-knit, and friendly team, we create unforgettable experiences for our visitors.

Who are you?

  • You enjoy leading a team, or you're ready to take that step.
  • You are an experienced marketer, both online and offline.
  • You can translate insights from data and research into effective marketing campaigns.
  • You are good at planning and work with precision.
  • You're creative.
  • You have an excellent command of Dutch and a good command of English.
  • You have a demonstrable affinity for classical music.

No two people are alike. The Concertgebouw strives to be an organization where everyone feels welcome and safe—a place where employees can be themselves and are given the freedom and recognition they need to contribute to our mission in their own way.

What does your team look like?

The Marketing team is a dedicated and enthusiastic group that, in addition to you, consists of four specialized marketers and a junior marketer. The team is part of the Marketing, Communications, and Sales department, which, in addition to your team, includes the Content, Marketing Intelligence & Online Sales, Press & PR, and Customer Contact & Sales teams. You will report to the Head of Marketing, Communications, and Sales.

What will you be doing?

As a hands-on manager, you will lead the Marketing team and ensure that everyone can contribute to our goals to the best of their ability and with a sense of fulfillment. Approximately 20% of your time will be spent on management tasks, such as coaching the team, developing annual plans and budgets, participating in the MCV management meetings, and advising the Head of Marketing, Communications & Sales on strategic decisions.

In addition, you will play an active role in marketing. You will develop, coordinate, and execute the Concertgebouw’s overarching marketing campaigns, and you will be responsible for the marketing of a portion of the classical music programming. This will involve daily collaboration with internal teams and external partners. You will also serve as a creative and strategic partner to the Sponsorship Department, including in the development of engaging sponsorship initiatives.

Here is a summary of your main responsibilities:

  • Managing the Marketing team.
  • Developing annual plans and budgets for your team and area of responsibility.
  • Developing and managing overarching marketing campaigns in collaboration with our media agency, the Content team, and the Marketing Intelligence & Online Sales team.
  • Responsibility for marketing the concerts in your portfolio: from consulting and programming to devising, planning, and executing effective campaigns.
  • Analyzing ticket sales data and optimizing marketing activities based on the insights gained.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with partner organizations and sponsors, including developing creative activations.

You will work closely with the other teams in the Marketing, Communications, and Sales department, as well as with other departments within the Concertgebouw, such as Programming, Sponsorship, Production, Venue Rental, and Events.

What do we offer?

  • A salary between €3,934 and €5,201 gross per month based on full-time employment (38 hours per week).
  • Vacation pay and a pension plan.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • The option to work partly from home.
  • With the free ticket program, you can attend concerts in what we (in our humble opinion) consider to be the most beautiful concert hall in the Netherlands.
  • Training opportunities to keep your knowledge up to date and further your professional development.
  • A bicycle plan for up to €749, including VAT.
  • The opportunity to take yoga classes, join our running team, or sing in our staff choir every week.
  • And above all: you’ll be part of a dedicated and enthusiastic team in a dynamic and informal work environment.
