It is the city of the good life. Limburg at its best. A city that continues to develop from a rich history and distinguishes itself as an international university city in a dynamic knowledge region. It is a wonderful city to live and work in. And above all, it is a wonderful city to work for the people who live here. We do this with great enthusiasm as a municipality; with 1,800 colleagues, external partners, the Mayor and Aldermen (B&W), and the City Council.
Working for Maastricht means working for a large municipality (122,000 residents). We are in the midst of a shift toward a more “outside-in” approach. And if you’re the candidate we’re looking for, you’ll understand exactly what we mean. We’re looking for an experienced manager for our Economy & Culture department. As the manager of the Economics & Culture department, you—along with your fellow managers on the management team—have a significant impact on the professionalization of this field. It is a challenging role in which you oversee the big picture, provide guidance, and maintain a broad perspective. These are the three core responsibilities involved.
Leadership. Top priority. You are the leader of your team—the mentor and the source of inspiration. You’re the manager with whom colleagues can brainstorm and bounce ideas off. Your colleagues are experienced and highly knowledgeable. You are the coach who empowers them to achieve the best possible results. You speak the language of politics as a partner to the executive board and the council. At the same time, as a manager, you know how to empower your employees and help them excel. In this role, you work closely with the two team managers.
Management Team. In this role, you will be a member of the Physical Domain Management Team and a key advisor to the municipal executive and senior management in the area of Economy & Culture.
Networking. You’ll get to know all the major players in the city. Maastricht is a major cultural hub and an economic powerhouse. Your department is responsible for maintaining this important regional and Euregional position. You are a connector and a natural point of contact for partners in economic and cultural matters. On the one hand, you strengthen our position by gaining allies for important plans and celebrating successes together. On the other hand, you are the person who defuses tensions when the situation calls for it.
We hope our story has given you a good sense of this wonderful opportunity. Now we’d really like to get to know you. The first step is up to you. Apply by January 6, 2025, via theapplication button and show us who you are and how you envision our collaboration. Do you have any questions first?
