More about this organization
Three smiling colleagues are standing arm in arm on a lively shopping street, with historic buildings in the background.

As of April 1, 2021, neighborhood teams have been launched in various locations across Amsterdam. All Amsterdam residents can contact a neighborhood team with questions regarding healthcare, well-being, housing, employment, financial matters, and safety. De Sociale Maatschap, perMens, Evean, and Philadelphia organize the neighborhood teams in Amsterdam North and South. We offer support in all areas of life and empower people to be as self-reliant as possible, building on their own strengths and talents and respecting everyone’s individuality: everyone matters and has the right to a good quality of life!

Our organization is characterized by a constant drive to innovate and improve our services for residents of Amsterdam in both the North and South!

Key challenges of the role:

  • Neighborhood teams are the future; the goal is to provide accessible support to people so they can ultimately participate in their own lives, communities, and neighborhoods on their own terms. The innovative way these neighborhood teams will operate presents a significant challenge in these uncertain times of limited human and financial resources. How can resources be allocated as effectively as possible?
  • Neighborhood teams can only reach their full potential if there is effective collaboration with partners. What new forms of collaboration can enhance the success of neighborhood teams?
  • The tight labor market is putting significant pressure on the delivery of services. How can you become and remain an attractive employer?

We are looking for talented individuals and free thinkers who are passionate about working in neighborhoods and communities and who bring a fresh perspective to society. They can offer an innovative perspective to our target audience.

In short, we are looking for a:
Neighborhood Teams Manager;
a creative connector with a special passion for the Social Basis (32–36 hours).

At our organization, everyone is unique and different. You are welcome here too!

Your Profile
You’re ready for an exciting new challenge where you can apply and further develop your leadership skills. Innovation gets your heart racing. As a creative thinker, you envision the future and see how you can improve support and services. You have an approachable and connecting personality. And you are aware of the times we live in, with all the challenges facing people and society. As a free thinker, you know how to inspire your colleagues to adopt a different approach that makes an impact. By identifying and brainstorming these possibilities together with your colleagues, you also help their talents shine.
The beaten path has too many ruts for you. Through collaboration, you forge your own path, providing structure and direction. With a positive, realistic attitude and your capacity for empathy, you keep both feet firmly on the ground and serve as a beacon for the target audience and your colleagues. You have a mission, and you’re committed to achieving it!

Skills:

  • Authentic
  • Analytical
  • Guts
  • Organizational sensitivity
  • Natural leader
  • Creative
  • Visionary

In addition, you have a university-level education and way of thinking, as well as strategic management experience. You also have experience with or an affinity for the social sector and grant processes or similar procedures.

What will you be doing?
In the Noord and Zuid districts, we are the organization responsible for running the neighborhood teams. The teams consist of neighborhood team workers, social counselors, debt counselors, and Social Basis staff.

  • Together with two other managers, you will be responsible for managing approximately 12 team leaders from the neighborhood teams and ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration;
  • You are a member of the management team and contribute to decision-making regarding strategy as it relates to business operations;
  • You are responsible for developing and implementing area-specific implementation plans and grant proposals within the urban policy frameworks;
  • In doing so, you will oversee the implementation of administrative decisions, zoning plans, and urban policy, and ensure that these are properly carried out and that the necessary agreements are in place;
  • You know better than anyone else what issues are at play in the region and city, and you can assess their relevance to both the organization’s strategy and your portfolio;
  • You proactively maintain contact with the city districts and various partners;
  • You determine the allocation of human and financial resources within the framework of the budget and agreements with the city and the district, and monitor the budget for the PDCA cycle of your portfolio, critically assessing how things can be improved;
  • You recognize opportunities and never miss a chance to innovate, take initiative, and grow.

What we offer:

  • A salary in accordance with the Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement, pay scale 12, with a minimum of €3,831 and a maximum of €5,946 gross per month based on full-time employment (36 hours).
  • An Individual Choice Budget. This amounts to over 18.5% of your gross salary, which you can choose to convert into extra pay or time off.
  • An Individual Career Budget, which you can use for your own professional development, such as taking a course.
  • An assessment may be part of the process
  • A one-year contract with the possibility of renewal and career opportunities.
  • Working hours that can be arranged by mutual agreement; that’s nice.
  • And very importantly: you’ll be joining a young organization with an open culture, equal treatment, and enthusiastic colleagues.
