Want to lead at the strategic and tactical levels while making an impact at the operational level? This is your chance to really make a difference!
The Amsterdam District Court plays a crucial role in our society: providing fair, accessible, and transparent justice. Security is an indispensable pillar of this—for visitors, judges, other staff, and defendants alike. The Security, Surveillance & Transportation (BB&V) team plays a key role in this. For the BB&V team, it’s all about professionalism, responsibility, and collaboration. The BB&V team secures the court, the bunker in Osdorp, and the Amsterdam Court of Appeal; maintains order during hearings; monitors defendants in the detention area; and transports defendants. The 140 employees of this team contribute daily to a safe and well-organized court. As the BB&V Manager, you will make an important contribution to this.
What does the current interim manager have to say about this position?
“As a BB&V manager, you’re right in the thick of things in the courtroom! You’re responsible for ensuring your staff’s competence in safety matters. Together with your management team, you set the course for the BB&V team. You’re at the heart of the team; you ensure your employees are always well-trained and you look out for your people. It’s a challenging, sometimes exciting, but always meaningful place to work.”
As BB&V Manager, you will lead a team of approximately 140 employees. These employees are divided into six teams, each with its own team manager. Together with these managers and a quality advisor, you will form the BB&V Management Team. You will report directly to the Head of Operations. In this role, you translate strategic goals into everyday practice. You ensure that the team continues to professionalize, that employees demonstrate ownership, and that a clear structure is in place. Your leadership is unifying and decisive: you inspire trust, encourage collaboration, and make clear decisions. You will guide the team managers in their development and strengthen their leadership, while also encouraging senior staff to take a firm hold of their roles within the primary process.
In addition, you will oversee the management of processes, finances, and information flows within the team and contribute to company-wide operational developments. You will be responsible for security at the current court locations on Parnassusweg and the bunker in Osdorp, and you will help shape the security arrangements for the new Extra-Secure Court Locations (EBZ). You will also represent the BB&V in the Strategic Security Council with the board. An important part of your work involves addressing capacity issues, reducing absenteeism, and promoting vitality and safety awareness. In doing so, you actively invest in a culture centered on trust, responsibility, and development. This is a full-time position based on a 36-hour workweek.
Working at the court means working toward a just society. As a BB&V Manager, you make a direct contribution to that goal.
