LUSTR, based in The Hague, is currently seeking an Operations Manager for a 0.8 FTE position.

About us

We are responsible for many annual events, such as Festival Classique, the National Children’s Memorial on May 4, the Johannes Vermeer Prize ceremony, and The Hague Highlights. In 2021, we organized the opening of Amare, including a live broadcast and the pre-opening with the royal couple. This year, we have added the National Circular Economy Conference, the production of Prinsjesdag at the Royal Theater, the Hague Volunteer Awards, the Sikkens Prize ceremony, and the Hague Sports Gala to our portfolio.

Operations Manager (32 hours per week)

As Operations Manager, you are a member of the Management Team and are responsible for the following areas: Finance, Human Resources, and Facilities. You serve as the business and operational backbone of LUSTR and ensure that the organization remains in control. You do this by making short-term decisions within the context of a long-term vision. Drawing on your expertise, you advise the director on LUSTR’s strategy.

What will you be doing?

As Operations Manager, you are responsible for day-to-day operations. This includes working with the project teams to monitor the progress and quality of projects. You are part of the Management Team, alongside the Director, the Concept & Strategy Manager, and the Head of Production. You share responsibility for strategic organizational policy and for developing and monitoring annual plans (financial, personnel, and activities). Your responsibilities include the following tasks:

  • Preparing and monitoring (multi-year) budgets for the organization, setting financial goals, and developing business cases;
  • Contract management for ongoing projects;
  • Maintain an overview of and review project budgets and final accounts;
  • Monitoring time reporting and project invoicing in collaboration with the project managers;
  • Human resources, including contract management, drafting and posting job openings, overseeing the application process, and scheduling and conducting performance reviews;
  • Support staff (6 permanent employees and an average of 5 temporary staff) through work meetings, task allocation, and monitoring workloads;
  • Determine the deployment and/or hiring of staff for projects in consultation with the management team;
  • LUSTR housing, procurement, IT, telecommunications, etc.

What are we looking for?

Does the description below sound like you? If so, we’re looking for you.

  • strong analytical skills and the ability to convey your professional opinion in a convincing manner;
  • a strong sense of responsibility and an entrepreneurial spirit;
  • results-oriented, problem-solving, and self-reliant;
  • strong communication skills at all levels, both internally and externally, and in both spoken and written form;
  • at least a college-level standard of work and thinking;
  • at least 5 years of relevant work experience;
  • an affinity for the events and cultural sector;
  • strong knowledge of and experience with Excel;
  • Experience with accounting and financial reporting in both commercial and cultural settings.

What do we offer?

We offer you an inspiring and dynamic work environment where you’ll have the opportunity to showcase your expertise and help shape and guide LUSTR’s growth. This is a fixed-term contract based on a 32-hour workweek with a competitive salary (depending on experience, education, and age). A permanent position is a possibility for the future.
