Are you a manager with a passion for culture, museums, and finance? Would you like to contribute to the success of one of the most prestigious museums in the Netherlands? If so, we’d love to talk to you!
The Rijksmuseum Boerhaave in Leiden, housed in the historic former St. Caecilia almshouse, is a treasure trove of science and medicine. With a collection that spans five centuries of scientific and medical progress, and as the winner of the 2019 European Museum of the Year Award, the museum is renowned for its unique exhibitions and educational programs.
As Operations & Finance Manager at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, you play a key role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our internal processes. You do this with a dynamic team comprising the Finance & HR, Security, Sales & Events, and Building & Exhibition Management departments. With your collaborative and clear leadership style, you create an environment where cooperation and innovation are central. You develop and implement policies that contribute to the museum’s mission and ensure sound financial management.
You have a strong background in financial and operational management, preferably within the cultural sector. With at least five years of leadership experience and a proven track record in managing complex financial and organizational issues, you are ready to take on this challenge. You possess a university-level work and thinking style and have experience drafting contracts and handling legal matters. You are a natural leader who knows how to motivate and inspire people. Your ability to connect with others and communicate effectively ensures that you and your teams perform at their best and continuously develop, so that we can make science and medicine accessible to a broad audience—our visitors of all ages—every day.
At Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, you’ll have the opportunity to work in a stimulating and inspiring environment where every day is different. You’ll collaborate with passionate professionals on projects that truly make a difference. We offer an attractive benefits package, including a competitive salary, generous vacation time, and plenty of opportunities for professional development. The position is classified under job group 14 of the Museum Collective Labor Agreement, based on a 36-hour workweek.
Working at Rijksmuseum Boerhaave means being part of a wonderful organization where you can make a real difference. You’ll work in a fantastic environment—a national museum housed in a historic building in the museum city of Leiden. You’ll be part of the management team and help shape the museum’s strategic direction.
