Are you interested in a leadership role in healthcare while also investing in your personal growth? Cordaan is launching a new Management Traineeship in January 2026. Over the course of a year, you’ll combine learning and working, develop your leadership skills, and contribute to providing meaningful care in Amsterdam. 

What will you be doing?

Are you interested in a leadership role in the healthcare sector? If so, this traineeship offers you the opportunity to learn the ropes and develop into an entry-level team manager. 

A new group of trainees will start in January 2026. The group consists mainly of internal candidates, but this year we are also making a number of spots available to external candidates. 

As a trainee, you must be available for at least 32 hours per week; of these 32 hours, you will spend at least 24 hours managing one or more teams. The remaining hours will be spent attending training sessions, working on assignments, and participating in trainee-related activities. 

What does the management traineeship entail? 

During the management traineeship, you’ll combine work and learning, take your first steps in the field of management, and strengthen your personal leadership skills. After a year, you’ll be fully prepared for the next step in your career and will be able to confidently apply for a position as a team manager at Cordaan!  

During the traineeship, you will learn about and work on: 

  • Leadership Skills: 4 training sessions led by a professional external trainer on practical management, personal leadership, communication skills, and other leadership skills for team managers; 
  • Leadership in practice: leading one or more teams for at least 3 days a week under the supervision of an experienced manager; 
  • Business management training: training courses delivered by our own experts in areas such as HRM, Finance, and Quality Assurance; these courses are offered in the form of in-person sessions and e-learning modules. 
  • Personal Growth: Developmental reviews, coaching, peer review, and practice sessions. 
  • Additional assignments: You will work on a challenging project together with your trainee group.

The terms of employment for this position are in accordance with the VVT collective bargaining agreement. 

  • Contract: A one-year contract for 32–36 hours per week.  
  • Salary: FWG 50: min. €3,384 and max. €4,659 gross, based on a 36-hour workweek; 
  • Benefits: Year-end bonus (8.33%) and vacation pay (8%); 
  • Travel expenses: a reimbursement of €0.19 per kilometer, a “ ” bicycle plan, and a bicycle repair allowance;   
  • Pension accrual through the Healthcare & Welfare Pension Fund;   
  • Training costs: The traineeship is fully covered by Cordaan. If you leave the company at your own request or through your own fault during the traineeship or within two years of its completion, a repayment arrangement will apply. 
  • Opportunities for growth: Plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth;  
  • Refer a colleague? Receive a total referral bonus of €500 net. 

Please note: Completing the traineeship does not guarantee a position as a team manager at Cordaan. However, you will have a significant advantage in the internal hiring process. If you do not secure a position at Cordaan after completing the traineeship, your one-year contract will automatically expire. 

Who are you? 

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree or an MBO-4 diploma. Do you have an MBO-4 diploma? If so, you must be willing to earn a bachelor’s degree or an associate degree after the traineeship (paid for by Cordaan; please note that this will take 2 to 4 years);  
  • You share Cordaan’s vision of leadership and are motivated to develop your skills in this area.  
  • You are curious, eager to learn, and open to self-reflection; 

We tailor the program to your personal development: while some trainees take on leadership roles from day one, others spend the first few months shadowing their mentor.  

Where will you be working? 

Cordaan provides care to approximately 20,000 people from 120 locations in Amsterdam, Diemen, Huizen, and Nieuw-Vennep. We do this with over 6,000 employees and more than 2,500 volunteers, in collaboration with family caregivers, other healthcare professionals, research institutions, and social organizations. As one of Amsterdam’s largest healthcare organizations, Cordaan is committed to taking responsibility for the development of long-term care in the city.  

We operate in the fields of elder care, home care, VGZ, mental health care, LVB+, and youth services. Where you’ll be working depends on available positions and what best aligns with your professional development.  

Selection Process 

  • Selection based on cover letter and resume – applications will be accepted through Sunday, September 14. 
  • An introductory meeting on September 22. 
  • Assessment at FWG Progressional People between October 1 and November 10. 
  • Did you pass the assessment? If so, you’ll move on to interviews with our healthcare departments, which will make the final decision. 
  • The final step is a reference check.
