Due to the expiration of one member’s term, the Welzijn Capelle Foundation is seeking a new member for its Supervisory Board, as nominated by the Works Council. Diversity in the composition of the Board is an explicit priority in this process.

Job Description

Welzijn Capelle is an affiliate of the municipality of Capelle aan den IJssel. The foundation is managed by the executive director, who is supported by two managers. The Supervisory Board oversees the executive director’s policies and the general affairs of the organization. The Supervisory Board assists the executive director with advice and counsel, serves as a sounding board, and acts as the employer for the executive director. The members are appointed by the municipal executive for a term of four years, with the possibility of reappointment for a maximum of four years.


Job Requirements for a Member of the Supervisory Board Nominated by the Works Council

  • familiar with the role and position of a supervisor within a nonprofit organization
  • knowledge/experience in the areas of employee participation, HRM, and a commitment to employee interests
  • up-to-date knowledge of social work and developments in the social sector
  • has expertise in several areas in which Welzijn Capelle operates
  • preferably has a network within the social sector and/or Capelle aan den IJssel
  • is strategic, analytical, decisive, and proactive
  • has a keen sense of social awareness
  • is critical, independent, and isn't afraid to tackle difficult topics
  • can constructively challenge fellow board members and the CEO
  • is approachable, sociable, and open-minded; is a good listener and works well with others
  • has sufficient time and commitment to fulfill the role


Composition

In accordance with the Social Work Governance Code, the Board strives for a balanced composition. Currently, women, people from non-native ethnic backgrounds, and young (new) supervisors are not proportionally represented. Preference is given to candidates from the immediate vicinity of Capelle aan den IJssel.


Compensation

The remuneration of the Supervisory Board is determined by the municipal executive and currently amounts to €4,040 per year.

They encourage volunteer work and resident initiatives that make the neighborhoods even more pleasant. This helps neighborhood residents feel safer and more connected to one another. And neighborhood partners work together even better!

Welzijn Capelle has approximately 120 dedicated, enthusiastic, and well-trained professional staff members who inspire and motivate one another. They work alongside 200 volunteers and 30 professional interns who are indispensable to all the work we do. The work environment is good, open, and positive. Promoting diversity in the broadest sense is a key priority at Welzijn Capelle. We strive for a balanced workforce.
