More about this organization
A modern glass museum building with a large plaza in front where people sit and stroll, surrounded by historic buildings.

The Fries Museum Foundation, the Princessehof Ceramics Museum Foundation, and the affiliated foundations—the Collection Fund, the Mata Hari Foundation, and the Monuments Foundation—are seeking a member of the supervisory boards who is willing to contribute their expertise starting September 25, 2023.

Who are we looking for?

For this position, we are specifically looking for a candidate who can bring added value in the areas of community engagement with young people and/or seniors, education and/or healthcare, and diversity and inclusion.

We encourage people who might not initially think they qualify to apply. We offer candidates with strategic insight who can think holistically the opportunity to learn the role of a board member on the job, with guidance from an existing board member. We are seeking diversity on our boards of directors, so we welcome candidates from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. With diverse boards of directors, we aim to create an environment where inclusion is the foundation.

The cultural sector is undergoing rapid change and development, with increasing attention being paid in recent years to diversity and inclusion, fair practices, and sustainability. These developments are having a major impact on the way cultural organizations operate. The importance of these themes will only increase in the coming years. That is why the supervisory boards are seeking a new member who embraces these changes and wants to contribute to a more inclusive, sustainable, and fair cultural sector that has something to offer current and future generations. For this development to succeed, collaboration with other social partners is of great importance.

All foundations apply the 2019 Cultural Governance Code in accordance with the supervisory-management model. The supervisory boards consist of up to seven members, taking into account the various areas of focus of the museums. They meet four times a year in a joint meeting. Members of the supervisory boards attend a number of additional meetings several times a year (such as a board committee meeting and consultations with the works council). Members of the supervisory boards are expected to attend important organizational events on a regular basis, such as exhibition openings and receptions with stakeholders or staff.

Membership on the supervisory boards is unpaid. Expenses are reimbursed following consultation and approval. Potential conflicts of interest are reviewed prior to appointment.
