The Council for Culture advises the government and parliament on arts, culture, and media policy. As of May 1, 2016, the Council consists of eight members, including the chair. Pursuant to Article 11, paragraph 3, of the Framework Act on Advisory Bodies, the Minister of Education, Culture, and Science (OCW) hereby announces that the position of member of the Council for Culture will become vacant effective April 1, 2023.

The council aims to ensure balanced representation from different regions, demographic groups, age groups, and genders. To fill this position, the council is seeking a strong leader with in-depth knowledge of and a robust network within the media sector.
The Minister of Education, Culture, and Science is calling on qualified candidates to apply. Nominations of qualified candidates are also welcome.
The selection process is conducted by an independent appointment advisory committee that advises the minister on filling the vacancy. Appointments are made by the Crown upon the minister’s recommendation for a term of four years. It is expected that candidates will be able to devote an average of 2 to 3 days per month to this position.
The fixed salary is based on pay scale 16 of the Central Government Collective Bargaining Agreement.
In light of the Council for Culture’s independence, this position is incompatible with primary and secondary positions at public and commercial broadcasters and institutions that receive subsidies from the BIS. The Appointments Advisory Committee will review other primary and secondary positions for potential conflicts of interest or the appearance thereof.
