About Sports and Wellness

Sport en Welzijn (SenW) consists of three independent foundations, located in Bodegraven-Reeuwijk, Leidschendam-Voorburg, and Moerdijk. These foundations manage and operate sports and wellness facilities and work to create an active and inclusive living environment. In addition, culture, youth work, and social work are part of the foundations’ activities.

Each foundation has its own statutory director and a formal Supervisory Board. Although each foundation legally has its own Supervisory Board, the members of these boards are the same. The Supervisory Board currently consists of four members and meets at least four times a year. Over the next two years, the terms of the Supervisory Board members will expire in phases. 

What will you be doing as a member of the Supervisory Board?

As a member of the Board of Trustees, you oversee the organizations’ policies and financial health, and ensure that their social and strategic goals are being met. You serve as a sounding board for the executive director and contribute to the effective functioning of the board.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Oversee the policies of the executive director and the general course of affairs within the foundation(s).
  
• Approve decisions that fall outside the scope of the CEO’s authority.
  
• Selecting, appointing, and evaluating of the executive director.
  
• Advising the CEO on strategic issues. 

A strong Board of Supervisors as a whole

The Board of Trustees operates as a team and collectively possesses expertise in the field of social entrepreneurship, business services, human resource management, political and administrative processes, finance, and IT. In selecting the members of the board, we ensure a good balance and complementarity so that, as a collective, we can optimally fulfill our supervisory and advisory roles. 

Who are you?

We are looking for a dedicated and independent supervisor with knowledge ofhuman resource management (HRM). In addition, you should identify with the following:

• You have an interest in sports, wellness, and community facilities.
  
• You have a broad perspective on social developments and administrative processes.
  
• You understand how political and administrative decision-making works.
  
• You have at least a college-level level of thinking and work experience
  
• You take a critical yet constructive approach and aren’t afraid to ask follow-up questions
  
• You are willing to invest time in meetings and professional development
  
• You are a person of integrity and impartiality, and you do not hold any active administrative or political office in the municipalities where SenW operates.
  

Previous experience in a supervisory or administrative role is a plus, but not a requirement.
