The Supervisory Board
Kunstlinie adheres to the Cultural Governance Code, which emphasizes good governance, effective oversight, and transparency. The Supervisory Board oversees Kunstlinie’s artistic and social performance, as well as its operational and financial continuity. The Board consists of five members and works with a compensation and audit committee. The new member we are seeking will serve as chair of the audit committee.
General Profile
The Supervisory Board consists of members who are committed, knowledgeable, and of high integrity, and who contribute to the team as a whole based on their individual backgrounds. We combine a warm and visible commitment with an independent and critical perspective. Each member is able to assess the broad outlines of our policies and also brings their own area of expertise to the table.
We expect the following:
- An appreciation for the cultural and social significance of Kunstlinie and a sense of connection to the city
- Management experience and the ability to provide oversight at the strategic level
- A relevant network in Almere and/or Flevoland
- Ability to contribute independently and constructively to oversight and advisory work as part of a team
Finance & Business Administration Profile
For this specific position, we are seeking a supervisor with expertise in finance and business operations, specifically someone who possesses the following qualities:
- Financial and strategic insight, experience with budgets, risk management, financial statements, and projections, and the ability to translate these into clear recommendations within a social and cultural context
- Experience with real estate, maintenance, property management, and collaboration with municipalities and multiple users
- An affinity for digitalization and IT, with a focus on technology and information security in organizational development
- Able to connect data with people and social goals, preferably with a relevant network in Almere and/or Flevoland
- Experience as a supervisor; asks tough but constructive questions and works well with others.
Commitment and expectations
The Supervisory Board meets approximately five times a year and also holds meetings of the audit committee, the works council, and thematic meetings. Members are expected to be actively involved, both in meetings and in Kunstlinie’s major events. Regular attendance at performances, exhibitions, and other activities is, of course, part of this.
We view diversity in background, perspective, and beliefs as an asset. We strive for a balanced composition of the Board. Given the current composition, preference is given to a woman.
Compensation
The Supervisory Board operates in accordance with the Cultural Governance Code. The Kunstlinie Foundation is designated as a Public Benefit Organization (ANBI). This means that compensation for members of the Supervisory Board is limited. Remuneration is therefore provided in accordance with Article 2 of the Decree on Remuneration for Advisory Bodies and Committees. There is also provision for training and professional development as a supervisory board member.
