Would you like to make a significant contribution to a thriving, entrepreneurial, and socially relevant cultural sector in Brabant as a member of the Brabant C Fund’s Supervisory Board? We are seeking an artist or creator to serve as a member of the Supervisory Board for the Brabant C Fund.
About the Brabant C Fund
The Brabant C Fund was established in early 2015 by the province of North Brabant with the aim of helping to facilitate world-class art and culture in Brabant and strengthening the cultural ecosystem in the region. Since its inception, Brabant C has been continuously evolving and is known for its innovative and forward-looking vision on cultural funding.
In April 2023, Brabant C presented a new strategy for 2030 aimed at making funding in the cultural sector more future-proof and ensuring a more even regional distribution. Central to this repositioning is the goal of evolving into a public-private investment fund for culture. This includes an invitation to Brabant’s business community, governments, and civil society organizations to participate and work together to build a thriving cultural sector in which collaboration and social impact through culture are central.
2024 marks a transitional year in which Brabant C will continue to administer two grant programs on behalf of the province of North Brabant under its current mandate. In addition, an initial public-private funding initiative for culture in the Brainport region has been launched: ASML x Brabant C. This unique partnership with ASML represents a major step forward in the ongoing development of a public-private fund for culture. More information about Brabant C can be found at
www.brabantc.nl.
The Supervisory Board
Supervisory VisionThe Supervisory Board focuses its work on the interests of, on the one hand, the cultural sector and professional creators, and on the other hand, Brabant C’s other stakeholders and (co-)funders, such as the province and private and social partners. The Supervisory Board of Brabant C strives for a diverse composition. All members are expected to endorse the vision and mission of Brabant C. Within the Supervisory Board, there is an informal, constructively critical, and professional collaboration, as well as a commitment to the value of culture in addressing social issues and to forward-looking cultural funding.
CompositionCurrently, the members represent cultural, entrepreneurial, and business backgrounds. The current members are Mr. David Lauwen (member and audit committee chair) and Ms. Verily Klaassen (chair). Statutorily, the Supervisory Board consists of five members. The intention is to fill the three open positions gradually, so that there is sufficient time and attention to carefully onboard each of the new members and enable them to function as a team. Given Brabant C’s repositioning as a public-private investment fund for culture, there are many challenges and opportunities ahead.
Role of the Supervisory BoardThe Supervisory Board meets at least once a quarter. In this capacity, the Supervisory Board acts as an internal oversight body, as the employer of the executive director, as an advisor and sounding board for the organization, and as a networker and ambassador for the Brabant C Fund.
Job openings
Between spring 2024 and spring 2025, three new members will be recruited to the Board of Trustees: one with a background in culture and social impact, one with a background in public-private partnerships/social entrepreneurship, and one with a background as a socially engaged change agent. The first profile, for which recruitment is currently underway, is:
