Lister offers specialized recovery-focused support to adults with mental health challenges and/or substance use disorders in the Utrecht and Lekstroom regions. They do so based on an unconditional belief in the client’s resilience and ability to take charge of their own recovery. The support focuses not only on the client but also on the client’s support network. In this way, Lister contributes to a pleasant living environment for everyone and remains attentive to the vulnerabilities within the clients’ contexts. To learn more about Lister’s vision, watch this video or visit Lister’s website.

Lister has been providing support in the province of Utrecht for 40 years. It serves approximately 1,900 clients with a staff of over 800. The organization is led by an Executive Board. The Supervisory Board oversees the implementation of policies in line with Lister’s social mission. The Client Council serves as the participatory council and provides the Board of Directors and the Supervisory Board with both solicited and unsolicited advice. One member of the Supervisory Board sits on the council upon the recommendation of the Client Council.

Due to the expiration of the term of one of the members of the Supervisory Board, Lister is seeking a new member who, upon the recommendation of the Client Council, will join the board.

Profile

For this position, we are specifically looking for someone with the following profile:

  • You are able to put yourself in the client’s shoes. This may be based on your own personal experience, or on your experience with the recovery process of someone close to you.
  • You place a high value on employee participation and have a demonstrable affinity for it.
  • You have a passion for healthcare and want to help address the major challenges facing this field. You also take into account the various interests of clients, funders, and other stakeholders.
  • You are creative and innovative, and you have a passion for innovation and digitalization that benefit our clients.
  • You’re not afraid to think outside the box, you contribute fresh and surprising ideas, and you’re not afraid to offer constructive criticism.
  • You do not need to have prior supervisory experience, but you should have a good understanding of the role of a supervisor and possess administrative and/or strategic insight. If necessary, you are willing to undergo training to acquire knowledge and skills in the areas of supervision and accountability.

The Supervisory Board strives for a composition that is as broad and diverse as possible. Given the current composition, preference is given to someone who does not come from the healthcare sector and who, based on their knowledge and experience, complements the competencies of the current members.

Composition of the Supervisory Board

The members of the Supervisory Board form a team and complement one another in terms of experience, background, and expertise. The Board strives for a diverse composition so that it can properly fulfill its supervisory duties.

In addition, each member of the Supervisory Board must be capable of assessing the broad outlines of the overall policy. Furthermore, each member must possess a number of general competencies and supervisory qualities; please refer to the general profile for details.

About the Supervisory Board

Lister’s Supervisory Board consists of five members. The board meets on average five times a year for regular meetings. In addition, there are two thematic meetings per year and one or two site visits. The board has three committees: the Audit Committee, the Quality Committee, and the Compensation Committee. The committees meet on average four times a year. Consultations with the Works Council and the Client Council take place twice a year.

The Supervisory Board oversees Lister’s operations in accordance with its social mission and fulfills the following formal roles in this capacity: oversight, employer of the Executive Board, and advisor/sounding board to the Executive Board. Lister is a values-driven organization. The Supervisory Board aligns with these values without losing sight of its critical role as an oversight body.

An appointment to the Supervisory Board is for a term of four years, with the possibility of one reappointment for an additional four years. Remuneration is in accordance with the provisions set forth in the Wnt.

About the Client Council

The Lister Client Council operates in accordance with the WMCZ (Act on Client Participation in Healthcare Institutions). The Client Council represents all of Lister’s mental health clients and advocates for their interests. The Client Council holds regular consultations with Lister’s Board of Directors, Board of Supervisors, and staff. It develops initiatives that may be important to clients and brings issues regarding care and services to the attention of those responsible. Depending on the subject, the Client Council has the right to provide advice or give consent.

The Client Council consists of about ten members and is assisted in its work by two so-called support staff members. These support staff members assist the Client Council in its work. The council meets two to three times a month. In addition, there is an Executive Committee, consisting of the chair and the secretary.
