We are looking for a new member for the Supervisory Board who shares our mission and approach. Specifically, we are seeking a member with legal and/or business expertise, particularly to support the foundation’s ongoing organizational development and the expansion of our hospitality and rental services in connection with the new construction project.
We want the board to bring together a wide range of experience and knowledge, and we believe it is important that all our divisions reflect Utrecht’s diverse community. For our board as well, we seek a mix of ages, genders, cultural identities, educational backgrounds, and visible and invisible disabilities. Finally, we believe it is important that some members of the board already have experience in a supervisory role, but this does not have to apply to everyone. An expense allowance is provided for each meeting of the Supervisory Board.
We are currently looking for a new member who:
We demonstrate that public spaces can be more creative and inclusive through the use of design and cultural activities. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s involving 50 young people in a hangout space developed specifically for them, or organizing the now-famous SOUK market and festival, we always work together with local residents and organizations from the neighborhood and the city. On the RAUM grounds, we have a permanent “collection” of play structures and artworks that ensure RAUM is a pleasant and inspiring place to visit all year round. In addition, we organize annual public events, such as the Stadscamping, which last for several weeks.
RAUM is supported by the City of Utrecht, combined with project grants from various funds. We generate our own revenue from sources such as rentals and ticket sales. More than 75,000 visitors come to our exhibitions and our plaza each year, including over 6,000 who attend approximately 70 events annually. Starting in 2026, RAUM will be part of the new circular cultural cluster to be built on Berlijnplein. At that time, RAUM will have—in addition to an outdoor plaza, catering facilities, an Artist in Residence program, and a workshop—an indoor plaza and program space totaling 2,200 m².
RAUM has an ambitious and flexible team of approximately 10 full-time equivalents (FTEs). The foundation operates under a Supervisory Board model. The board evaluates, monitors, and advises. Together with the executive board, it establishes the long-term plans, the annual plan, and the annual report. The board also represents RAUM at external events. Finally, the board acts as the employer of the two executive directors. The Supervisory Board meets at least five times a year and currently consists of four members.
