We are looking for an enthusiastic member to join WSKO’s supervisory board who has a legal background and an affinity for finance. This member will serve on the audit committee. The supervisory board consists of five members.

Organization:

WSKO, the largest primary school district in Westland, has 17 schools and over 5,000 students. Approximately 500 staff members are dedicated to providing high-quality education. WSKO’s vision focuses on fostering independence and self-reliance in children by imparting basic knowledge and skills and teaching them to be open to others. This contributes to their personal development within the Catholic tradition. WSKO strives to educate children to become active citizens who make a positive contribution to the world. Key themes such as citizenship education, diversity, and dealing with differences are central, with the goal of creating a safe and inclusive environment.

Desired skills and qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with legal issues in the education sector or similar sectors.
  • Experience in governance and facilitating decision-making processes.
  • Able to provide critical and constructive feedback, with a clear understanding of local political and social dynamics.
  • A passion for education and the Westland community, combined with a pragmatic and enterprising approach to administrative challenges.
  • Preferably have a network that is relevant to education and the region.
  • The ability to maintain an overview and strong analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of and/or an interest in financial policy.

Personal qualities:

  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills who values warmth, openness, and humor.
  • The ability to foster sincere and transparent communication, in which everyone involved feels heard and valued and feels free to express their opinions.
  • An approach that encourages dialogue and collaboration is essential for fostering a culture of engagement and shared decision-making.

Challenges for WSKO:

The education sector is facing an increasingly complex social mission. This has an impact on oversight within the social environment in the Westland region, as an urban fringe area. Specifically, for WSKO, this involves:

  • Future-Oriented Education: Itis essential to make education future-proof. This involves making strategic agreements regarding funding and facilities, and finding innovative solutions to the teacher shortage, as well as attracting and retaining qualified staff to ensure the quality of education.
  • Closer collaboration with various stakeholders: Itis crucial to work with municipalities and other organizations to address educational challenges and ensure the continuity of education. This involves complex processes related to partnerships with other organizations in the Westland region.

General profile of the supervisory board:

  • A clear understanding of the role and its responsibilities, a clear vision of how to fulfill the role of supervisor, and preferably experience as a supervisor.
  • Of good character (Certificate of Good Conduct), independent, and of high integrity.
  • Endorsement of the management charter (including the code of good governance) of the Supervisory Board of the WSKO Foundation.
  • Endorsement of the mission, vision, and strategy of the WSKO Foundation, as set forth in its Articles of Incorporation.
  • Well-informed about social, political, and educational developments, as well as other environmental factors.

In addition, you are willing and able to attend virtually all meetings and prepare thoroughly for them. The Supervisory Board strives for a balanced representation in all respects, including gender, age, background, and so on.

Are you excited?
