The Oranjewoud Festival is an adventurous, inclusive, and international music festival that takes place annually. To expand its Board of Trustees, the festival is seeking members with a background in finance or cultural and social affairs.
The Oranjewoud Festival is an adventurous, accessible, and international music festival that takes place annually at indoor and outdoor venues within the Oranjewoud Park Landscape near Heerenveen. The venues for concerts—primarily, though not exclusively, classical—are diverse, ranging from a forest or grassy field to an underground bunker, a country house, or a stretch tent. With the accessible Festival Heart, the Proeftuin, and our program lines Family, Play, Comfort, and Expedition Zone, we appeal to future audiences of all ages, classical music lovers, and cultural adventurers. As an organization, we are brimming with new ideas and do not rest until they are realized, always keeping a critical eye on our responsibility toward this beautiful location. In this way, we let people hear, see, and feel that classical music is very much alive and sounds even more beautiful when presented in nature.
In 2024, the Oranjewoud Festival will take place from May 30 through June 2. For more information about the festival, visit www.oranjewoudfestival.nl.
The Supervisory Board has delegated the day-to-day management of the Oranjewoud Festival Foundation to two executive directors, who are responsible for artistic and business policy. The Supervisory Board acts as the employer of the executive directors, meets with them on average four times a year, and fulfills its duties in a responsible manner. In doing so, it adheres to relevant laws and regulations as well as the Code of Cultural Governance. The Supervisory Board monitors the agreements made with the managing directors regarding artistic and business policy, including financing, the multi-year plan (including the budget), the annual financial statements, and other relevant matters. The Supervisory Board consists of an odd number of members (as stipulated in the articles of association), ranging from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 5 persons. Members are appointed for a term of 4 years, with the possibility of renewal for a maximum of 1 additional term.
The Supervisory Board is composed in such a way that its members can act as responsible directors, supervisors, and advisors, independent of one another, of any vested interests, and of the executive directors. The Supervisory Board values broad representation of expertise. This refers to the knowledge and qualities that, taken together, form the desired composition of the Board:
The goal is to ensure that the Board is diverse in its composition, taking into account people from different backgrounds and with different experiences so that the Board can carry out its work based on a mix of diverse perspectives. Specific portfolios are assigned based on availability and background.
In addition, it is of course important that each board member has sufficient time available to provide the executive directors with advice and support outside of regular meetings, and is also able and willing to leverage their own network for the benefit of the festival.
