Are you looking for an interesting, socially relevant volunteer position where you can contribute and further develop your knowledge and understanding of social housing? If so, we invite you to read on.

Woonplus Schiedam

Stichting Woonplus Schiedam, with approximately 12,000 units, is Schiedam’s leading housing association. In a rapidly changing world, we are pursuing our ambitions with renewed energy and a keen eye. Inspired by Schiedam’s fresh housing vision, “Growth as an opportunity for the city,” we are doing everything we can to offer Schiedam residents—especially those with limited purchasing power—a home in livable, diverse, and sustainable neighborhoods. We adapt as flexibly as possible to our tenants’ wishes, optimize our real estate portfolio, and introduce smart programs such as the senior housing transition program. But above all, we are there for every tenant on a personal level: we look along with you, think along with you, and step in where needed. Woonplus’s promise is clear and sincere: “We live with you.”

Challenges for Woonplus Schiedam in the coming years:

  • Affordability: A critical issue, especially in public housing, where rents can rise due to renovations and new construction projects.
  • Renovation and sustainability: Essential for ensuring the quality and safety of existing homes, but with the risk of higher rents posing a challenge for tenants with limited incomes.
  • New construction: Essential to meeting the growing demand for housing. This requires a focus on affordability and diversity in the housing supply to promote an inclusive society.

What do you bring to the table as a new board member?

  • You have an eye for the community and the social environment of Woonplus.
  • Have no personal or conflicting interest with Woonplus.
  • You are available and have enough time to perform the job.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to discussions and decision-making within the Board of Supervisors.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with HOW, the Woonplus Tenants' Association, and serve as their primary point of contact on the board.
  • Oversee the housing association’s strategic direction, with a particular focus on the interests of the tenants.
