What are we looking for?
We are seeking a tenant representative for Woondiensten Aarwoude who has a strong financial background and an affinity for real estate. As a tenant representative, you will actively bring the tenants’ perspective to the Board of Supervisors. This role requires someone who can effectively bridge the gap between financial data and the social mission of a housing association.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong financial backgroundand is able to understand, analyze, and critically evaluate financial documents.
- You have an affinity for real estate.You don’t need to be a real estate expert, but you do need to have a good grasp of the subject and an interest in discussing investments, maintenance, asset management, and their financial implications.
- Has experience withstrategic collaborationand navigating complex stakeholder dynamics.
- You have abroad perspectiveand strategic insight. You can distinguish between main and secondary issues and keep the long term in mind.
- Is socially engaged, has an affinity for public housing, and can empathize with tenants’ perspectives and interests.
- understands governance, adheres to their role, and can serve as an independent yet constructive sounding board.
- You have strongcommunication skillsand can express your opinions clearly and respectfully.
- It is important thatall tenants—including newcomers and future residents—are involved and feel represented in the decision-making process.
- Has a connection to the regionor is interested in building one (preferred).

Why are we looking for you?
Woondiensten Aarwoude is on the cusp of significant changes. Two members of the Supervisory Board will soon be stepping down after reaching the maximum term of office. At the same time, the Supervisory Board will be reduced from five to four members. This means that the new tenant representative must be able to make a substantial contribution to the board’s collective knowledge and expertise.
Aarwoude Housing Services; Developments and Context
Woondiensten Aarwoude is a compact yet ambitious housing association with approximately 2,000 homes in the municipalities of Kaag en Braassem and Nieuwkoop, in the Green Heart of the Randstad. The association is financially sound and has significant ambitions. The key developments Woondiensten Aarwoude is focused on are:
- New Construction Project
- Creating enough affordable housing to meet the growing demand in the region. This requires strategic insight and careful financial consideration of investments and risks.
- Sustainability Challenge
- Improving the energy efficiency of existing homes and implementing sustainable construction methods in new buildings. This has both financial and social implications.
- Close collaboration
- Woondiensten Aarwoude is working ever more closely with other housing associations and organizations in the region. The goal is to share knowledge, collaborate on projects, and make smarter use of resources and expertise.
- Further developing tenant and newcomer participation
- There is a clear challenge to strengthen tenant participation and engagement, particularly in major projects such as new construction and sustainability upgrades. The housing association wants to make a greater effort to understand how tenants are involved in decision-making processes. In doing so, it is important to focus on both current and future tenants, so that new homes and projects are well-aligned with their wishes and needs.
The Board of Directors
The Supervisory Board of Woondiensten Aarwoude oversees the policies of the managing director and the general affairs of the housing association. In addition, the Supervisory Board serves as a sounding board and advisor. The culture within the Supervisory Board is professional, engaged, and informal. The members are sharp and critical in their analysis, but work together in a positive atmosphere that allows for humor and personal interaction. The Supervisory Board includes an audit committee and a compensation committee. Diversity in background, age, gender, and perspective is important, ensuring that the board accurately reflects the community in which Woondiensten Aarwoude operates.
