Help shape the art museum of the future
The Hague Museum of Art is seeking new members for its Advisory Board. The Advisory Board is an inspiring and diverse think tank of engaged professionals who advise the museum’s management on strategic and social issues, ranging from inclusion to entrepreneurship, and from audience engagement to programming. Together, we explore what the museum needs now and in the future.
The Hague Museum of Modern Art is one of Europe’s leading museums of modern art, with a collection of over 170,000 works of art and three locations: the Kunstmuseum, the Hague Museum of Photography, and KM21. Each year, we organize approximately 25 exhibitions, in addition to a diverse public and educational program.
Our starting point is The Hague’s rich collection of art and culture. From there, we develop multifaceted exhibitions and programs, both inside and outside our museum buildings. We do this in collaboration with artists and partners from The Hague, the Netherlands, and beyond. We believe in the power of looking together, learning together, and creating together.
We operate based on three core values: optimism, because we believe that art contributes to a more beautiful and just world; diversity of voices, because we make room for different perspectives and actively work toward representation and inclusion; and entrepreneurship, because we experiment, seek out opportunities, and continue to develop the museum in collaboration with our visitors and partners.
The Advisory Board was established in 2020 and meets two or three times a year. The board provides advice to the museum’s management and relevant staff, whether solicited or unsolicited, on strategic issues such as:
The council is advisory and informal. Its members have no administrative responsibilities, but they do exert influence by sharing their ideas, networks, and experience.
Specifically, we are looking for people with experience or an interest in one or more of the following areas:
We strive for a diverse board in terms of background, age, gender, and educational level. You do not need to be employed in the cultural sector.
