SHOP is the center of knowledge and expertise in the field of support, services, and shelter for sex workers and (potential or suspected) victims of national and international human trafficking.

This involves the sexual, labor, and criminal exploitation of both minors and adults. SHOP takes ahuman rights-based approachand has been providing assistance, services, and shelter to current and former sex workers and victims of human trafficking for over 20 years.

In addition toThe Hague, SHOP also serves theHaaglandenandHollands Midden regions. The organization currently consists of 45 staff members and 9 volunteers working at two locations. The organization is led by a single-person management team. The building in the center of The Hague houses the operations ofcare coordination,social work, SHOP Asia, career transition services, andSpot46, the information and advice center for sex workers. In addition, the24-hour shelter De Gantelis located at a separate site.

About the Supervisory Board

The Board of Trustees operates in accordance with governance regulations based on theSocial Work governance regulations. SHOP’s Board of Trustees currently consists of three members and is seeking two new members who wish to contribute to the oversight and strategic direction of the organization.

Member Profiles

Thetwo new membersof SHOP’s Board of Trustees have an affinity with the social work sector and, in particular, with its area of operation. Given the current expertise within the Board of Trustees, we are looking for experienced supervisors with political and administrative experience. In addition, the new members should preferably have strong ties to The Hague and/or the Hollands Midden region, and feel connected to SHOP’s mission and vision.
