Teylers Museum is the oldest museum in the Netherlands. It was founded in 1784 and is still housed in its original building. At the museum, you can marvel at art and science. It houses a unique collection of fossils, minerals, books, coins, medals, scientific instruments, paintings, and drawings of international significance. We organize diverse and successful (international) exhibitions, ranging from Leonardo da Vinci to Dinomakers, from The Great Illusion – 200 Years of Virtual Realities to Michelangelo.

Job Description

As Hospitality Manager, you embody hospitality toward visitors and serve as a role model for your colleagues. You contribute to the development and implementation of Teylers Museum’s hospitality policy, guided by its mission, brand identity, and brand values. In addition, you will lead the hospitality team and coordinate with other colleagues on the floor and in the back office. You will serve as the coordinator of the (online) cash register and ticketing system. In the entrance area and throughout the museum, you will ensure a welcoming and smooth flow of operations.

Work

You will be working at a casual organization, in the Public Affairs department. Your main responsibilities will include:

- (Contribute to) developing and implementing hospitality policies:

  • You ensure that the museum’s warm welcome is evident to all visitors and that your team and other colleagues on the floor convey this spirit with enthusiasm.

- Managing the cashiers and customer service staff on the hospitality team:

  • You motivate your team and resolve any issues that arise. You not only handle scheduling, ensure continuity, and maintain quality standards, but also make sure everyone feels valued and heard.

- Coordination with the security team and the back office.

- Coordinator for the ticket office, online ticketing, and the audio/multimedia tours.

- You will work shifts at the cash register/entrance as needed, for example, to cover for staff during breaks or in case of illness.

- Participation in projects:

  • You will be part of various project teams and play a key role in preparing a warm welcome for visitors to the blockbuster exhibition on Michelangelo in the fall of 2025.
