We are currently looking for a:
Principal Investigator, Shell Climate Case (0.8 FTE / 30 hours per week)
Location: Amsterdam
What will you be doing?
- You lead the team of researchers for the Shell Climate Case.
- You will coordinate and oversee the project management of the Shell Climate Case, prepare strategic decisions, and ensure the project stays on track.
- You will identify and discuss strategic dilemmas with senior management and our attorneys.
- You will serve as the spokesperson for the organization in dealings with the media.
- You will help shape our policy regarding the oil and gas industry.
- You will monitor scientific developments and analyze and interpret information relevant to the Shell Climate Case.
- You will initiate studies, consult with experts, and participate in panel discussions.
- You will give presentations on the Shell Climate Case and represent the team at external meetings.
What are you bringing?
- You have an academic level of work and thinking.
- You have a strong personality and a great sense of responsibility.
- You have proven expertise in the field of the energy transition and fossil fuel companies, for example through at least 4 years of relevant work experience.
- You are able to build and maintain a network of relevant experts.
- You're good at setting priorities, planning, and keeping track of things.
- Your leadership style is coaching-oriented
- You are flexible and willing to consult and work outside of office hours when necessary.
- You have an excellent command of spoken and written Dutch and English.

Who do you work with?
As a principal investigator, you will work in a research team with diverse areas of expertise that collaborates closely with our attorneys. You will also work with colleagues in the Policy & Advocacy department and other departments. In addition, you will maintain contact with senior management, national and international networks of civil society organizations, and academics.

- A one-year contract with the option to extend.
- A starting salary, depending on your knowledge and experience, ranging from €4,405 to €5,400 for full-time employment. At Milieudefensie, this is a 37.5-hour workweek.
