The Theater Kikker Foundation comprises two flat-floor theaters in Utrecht: Theater Kikker in Utrecht City Center and Podium Hoge Woerd in Leidsche Rijn/Vleuten-De Meern. The two theaters have distinct profiles. Theater Kikker presents innovative, bold theater and modern dance, featuring many works by emerging theater makers. In addition to theater and dance, Podium Hoge Woerd also features cabaret, variety shows, and music. Both theaters provide ample opportunities for theater makers from Utrecht. We are convinced that our theaters can play an important and unifying role in society. This also includes special on-site productions. A continuous focus on the future is essential for our ongoing development. We never stand still.

Head of Technology and Operations (x / m / f)

32 hours per week

Together with seven motivated technical colleagues—including two coordinators—you’ll ensure that artists can stage approximately 450 performances a year, that colleagues can do their jobs effectively and safely, and that visitors have a fantastic experience. Driven by a sense of social responsibility, you’re eager to contribute creatively to the operations of Theater Kikker/Podium Hoge Woerd.

You will be responsible for managing, scheduling, and developing our fantastic technical team (including interns). You will be responsible for the maintenance, management, and operation of the venues and buildings. You will handle all communications with the City of Utrecht and other parties regarding building technical matters and safety.

You play a key role in ensuring a physically and socially safe work environment for colleagues, performers, and the audience. You maintain ongoing contact with on-call staff, partner theaters, facility management companies, and a wide variety of performers. You are a member of the management team at Theater Kikker/Podium Hoge Woerd.

You

• have a keen interest in the performing arts and, in particular, the operations of Theater Kikker/Podium Hoge Woerd;
• have experience as a field technician, whether traveling or based at a single location;
• have experience in a leadership role;
• has a relevant network, both in the city of Utrecht and, preferably, nationwide;
• is fluent in Dutch and English;
• You should preferably live in or near Utrecht;
• You have an affinity for working in an organization where “ ” are highly valued as principles of collaboration and equality;
• can contribute ideas about the (future) role of theater.

We

We are initially offering a one-year contract for 32 hours per week, with the possibility of extension, at a wonderful workplace, as part of a team of great people.

This position is classified in pay grade 8 under the Dutch Performing Arts Collective Bargaining Agreement (€3,279.00 – €4,767.00 gross for full-time (36-hour) employment). We offer attractive additional benefits, such as reimbursement for travel expenses, mobile phone service, and meals, a training budget, and, of course, access to all performances.
