The Academic Affairs Office assists colleagues and students with all education-related administrative processes, such as admissions, scheduling, academic progress, and information services. It also provides guidance and support to faculty members and visiting lecturers. The department works closely with the film academy’s ten specialized programs: production design, cinematography, editing, sound design, production, screenwriting, visual effects, immersive media, documentary directing, and fiction directing. You will lead a team of eight staff members: six academic coordinators, a digital coach, and a student affairs coordinator.
The Netherlands Film Academy trains students to become filmmakers: storytellers with their own specialization within the film industry. The Film Academy is a higher professional education institution offering nine bachelor’s degree programs and a two-year research-oriented master’s program. The Academy is part of the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK), which also comprises the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, the Theater School, the Academy of Visual Arts, the Reinwardt Academy, and the Academy of Architecture.
A great workplace at an exciting university of applied sciences in the heart of Amsterdam. The position is classified in pay scale 11 in accordance with the collective labor agreement for higher professional education (CAO-hbo), generic job description Level C (minimum €4,535.76, maximum €6,359.47 gross on a full-time basis); the starting salary depends in part on education and work experience. There is a good package of secondary employment benefits, in accordance with the CAO-HBO, such as an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%, an ABP pension plan, generous vacation time, travel allowance, and opportunities for study and professional development. This is a one-year contract; if performance is satisfactory, there is a possibility of a permanent position.
The Head of the Education Office will serve as the manager of the Education Office for a minimum of 0.8 FTE and, for a period of one year at 0.2 FTE, will conduct research into the (education-supporting) role and positioning of the Education Office within the academy. After this year, the possible extension of the additional 0.2 FTE will be evaluated.
