Sonic Acts is currently seeking an experienced Head of Marketing and Communications to work 4 days a week.
Sonic Acts is a leading institution in the field of innovative electronic and digital art forms. With an extensive program in the Netherlands and beyond, and a large-scale biennial event, Sonic Acts produces, presents, and distributes a wide variety of artworks. The organization is based in Amsterdam and collaborates with leading Dutch and international partners—ranging from related cultural organizations to academic institutions such as Paradiso, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, OT301, the University of Amsterdam, the Sandberg Institute, Re-Imagine Europe, and many others.
What are you going to do?
As Head of Marketing & Communications, you will lead the communications team and have overall responsibility for all marketing, communications, and promotion related to the Sonic Acts program, brand identity, and public relations. You are well-informed about developments in art and culture and have an interest in audiovisual and contemporary art, avant-garde film, and electronic music. Together with the management, programmers, and (venue) partners, you will work to increase the visibility and reach of all Sonic Acts activities.
As Head of Marketing & Communications, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- You will develop the marketing and communication plans, the sponsorship and donation policies, and the audience development strategy.
- You will develop and implement original and innovative campaigns.
- You will monitor the progress of all ongoing promotions and campaigns.
- You will develop and manage the marketing and communications budget.
- You are responsible for all of Sonic Acts’ communication channels, including websites, print materials, mailings, social media, CRM tools, ticketing systems, and merchandise.
- You will lead the communications team: You will hire employees and freelancers (including designers) and supervise and evaluate their work.
- You proactively maintain relationships with the press, media, partners, sponsors, and other relevant contacts.
- You conduct market research, analyze data, identify trends and developments, and use this information to formulate recommendations regarding positioning and how to appeal to different target audiences.
- You will assist with grant applications, financial reports, and evaluations.
Profile:
- You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar position.
- As a manager, you feel comfortable leading a team: You maintain an overview, delegate tasks, and motivate and guide team members.
- You are flexible and able to handle stress: During busy periods leading up to and during large-scale events such as the biennial, the pace of work is fast, and tasks may also need to be performed outside of regular hours.
- You have excellent communication and writing skills in Dutch and English.
- You have a relevant network in media, music, art, and culture.
- You live in the Amsterdam area or are willing to travel.
