
The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra|Netherlands Chamber Orchestra presents opera and concert productions of the highest artistic caliber. As the resident orchestra of Dutch National Opera, the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra|Netherlands Chamber Orchestra is internationally regarded as one of the finest opera orchestras. Lorenzo Viotti is chief conductor of the NedPhO and of the Dutch National Opera. Gordan Nikolić is music director of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra. The Royal Concertgebouw serves as the home venue for a diverse concert program. The orchestra combines artistic excellence with accessibility in a program designed for a broad audience. Through an extensive program for education and talent development, the organization invests in the future of classical music. Each year, the orchestras reach approximately 190,000 visitors. The organization is based in the NedPhO-Koepel in Amsterdam East.

To support this goal, we are looking for a:
HEAD OF HR
(36 hours per week)
with vision and drive
You will have broad responsibility for HR policy within NedPhO|NKO. The HR policy is based on the objectives of our organizational policy, such as sustainable employability, diversity and inclusion, and good employment practices. You will develop, shape, and be responsible for the implementation of the HR policy. You will supervise an HR colleague who focuses on, among other things, absenteeism support and occupational health and safety, first-line HR advice, and administrative support. You report to the Executive Director. In addition to day-to-day operations, you focus on issues such as the sustainable employability of our musicians and staff, recruiting and retaining (international) musicians and staff, organizational culture, internal communication, and the optimal structure of the organization. In this role, you will serve as a discussion and sparring partner for the Executive Director and Management Team members, whom you will also advise, both when asked and on your own initiative. You will participate in Management Team meetings, where you will be able to convey your vision and ideas. With your energetic attitude, practical insight, and natural authority, you know how to break down complex problems into solutions and are able to build support among your counterparts.
Together with the CEO, you will prepare aspects of collective bargaining negotiations and/or issues to be discussed by the Works Council, always ensuring a balance between the various interests.
In this role, you will help further professionalize our organization and contribute to making it more sustainable.
Who are you?
You are an experienced and professional HR expert who knows the HR field inside and out, and you have held a position at the executive management level. You have a clear vision of the field that you know how to translate into daily practice in an inspiring way. You exude energy and enthusiasm and communicate clearly and concisely. You can put things into perspective and consistently balance diverse interests. You back up your positions, don’t let setbacks get you down, and remain positive. You know how to handle both staff and line management responsibilities, have a good sense of proportion, and a sense of humor.
Experience and Education
You have a bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration and at least 10 years of relevant work experience in a complex work environment with highly educated professionals. Of course, you are up to date on current laws and regulations as well as the latest developments in your field. Your command of Dutch and English is excellent. You have preferably worked in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations and have successfully completed specific HR projects.

Our offerings
A one-year fixed-term employment contract with the possibility of a permanent position.
Salary depends on age and experience and is up to approximately €6,000.00 gross per month for a full-time position of 36 hours per week. In addition, you will receive an 8% vacation allowance and a year-end bonus. We are affiliated with the ABP Pension Fund and offer discounts on supplemental employee insurance plans.
