Head of Supported Programs

The Rijksmuseum tells the story of 800 years

Dutch history. We explore it through a collection of over 1 million items

exhibits, exhibitions, and education. The Guided Programs Department

works with a team of approximately 80 expert museum docents to present the collection every day

brings it to life and makes it meaningful to as wide an audience as possible. We

want to reach as many visitors as possible in a personal way, speaking to their minds, hearts, and

to appeal to the senses.

What will you be doing?

You are responsible for the organization and quality of the many

a variety of guided programs led by a diverse and motivated team of

museum docents and actors. A large number of them work in

as an employee, and another part as a freelancer. Together with the three team managers, two

Your responsibilities include:

• Formulating and communicating a vision and

policy on “Supported Programs.”

• Develop, inspire, and motivate

from the team of assistants, team managers, and museum educators.

• In close collaboration with the department

Planning to develop an optimal and affordable program. This will be done by

knowledge of and understanding of complex planning issues.

• Developing a training program for

museum docents.

• Continuously working on and ensuring the

quality of supervised programs in collaboration with the fellow heads of the

Public & Education Department.

What do you get in return?

• A gross monthly salary ranging from €3,801 to €

€5,075 per month based on a 36-hour workweek (scale 11 of the museum collective bargaining agreement).

• 8% vacation pay and 3.4%

year-end bonus.
