Would you like to work alongside passionate colleagues to create a world where people and nature thrive? And help build a “nature-positive” impact in the world’s most biodiverse landscapes by mobilizing people? That’s what you’ll be doing when you work at the World Wildlife Fund (WWF-NL).

WWF-NL employs 170 talented and intrinsically motivated professionals. The organization consists of the Conservation, Engagement, Organization & Talent Development (OTD), and Finance & Operations (F&O) departments. The HR team consists of two HR Business Partners, a Learning & Development Advisor, and a Junior HR Business Partner/Recruitment Coordinator.

We are looking for a Head of HR (32–40 hours per week) to lead this team .

Duties and Responsibilities

The HR team contributes to WWF-NL’s strategy by supporting the development of the organization, its teams, and its people. As Head of HR, you will have final responsibility for all activities within the HR cycle and will serve as a strategic partner to the board and management team on HR issues. The organization is at the beginning of developing a new long-term strategy. With a renewed management team and together with the Manager of Strategy & Organizational Development, you will work on culture and leadership development. Together with the HR team, you will create impact by steering and implementing a clear, future-oriented HR strategy. You will translate this strategy into operational reality using HR data and analyses, with the goal of creating a healthy, sustainable, and future-oriented organization. You will be responsible for various projects that contribute to the organization’s development. All HR tools are in place, but there is room for improvement. For example, there are plans to revamp the Performance & Talent Management processes and implement a new HR system. Together with the HR Business Partners, you will advise the executive board and management so they can further develop their teams into engaged, passionate, and impactful teams. You are part of the middle management team at WWF-NL and the People & Culture community at WWF worldwide. You report directly to the director.

Who are you?

The position of Head of HR is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR manager who is eager to further their career within an organization with a clear mission and where you can make an immediate impact. You will have overall responsibility for HR and will focus on transformation and continuous improvement. In doing so, you will help build the most inspiring and impactful nature conservation organization in the Netherlands and become part of the international WWF network.

  • You have at least 10 years of experience in a broad HR role and at least 5 years in a managerial position.
  • You have a proven track record in coaching and developing high-performing teams.
  • You have proven experience in driving cultural transformation and leadership development.
  • You are decisive, confident, and able to keep things in perspective.
  • You have a strong external focus and drive technological innovation.
  • You have a strong moral compass and are a person of integrity.
  • You have an affinity for and experience working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • Ideally, you have experience implementing HR IT systems (experience with AFAS is a plus).
  • The working language within the organization is English. A good command of both Dutch and English, both spoken and written, is required.
