Floor Manager

Dress for Success is a volunteer-run organization (a foundation with a board of directors) that provides job seekers on “low incomes” with free professional attire and practical advice to help them succeed in their job searches. Through our clothing store, 40–50 volunteers help more than a thousand people each year on their path to economic independence. The clothing in the stores comes from donations from the apparel industry and from private individuals.
Dress for Success Amsterdam is located in the World Fashion Centre Amsterdam. The organization consists of the general manager, the floor manager, and 40–50 volunteers. The organization is led by the general manager, who, as the person ultimately responsible for the organization, reports to the board and oversees the floor manager and the volunteers in the back office. The floor manager supervises the clothing advisors (volunteers) in the store.
Due to the departure of our current floor manager, we are looking for a colleague who:
- has a college-level education and way of thinking
- preferably has experience in retail
- has a strong affinity for the work of Dress for Success
- has experience managing volunteers
What do you bring to the table?
You are an honest, open, and empathetic leader. You are also a decisive, results-oriented professional who knows how to maintain rapport and connection within a community setting where the work is carried out by a group of volunteers that changes daily. You are diplomatic and know how to engage people in carrying out their tasks. You naturally inspire others and ensure quality. You have no trouble handling administrative tasks.
Together with the general manager, you will maintain contact with the field and implement the established policies.
What do we offer?
A challenging position within a dynamic and dedicated organization. You will start with a one-year contract with the possibility of a permanent position. Your work schedule is 24 hours per week; we will determine your workdays in consultation with you. Your salary will range from €3,361 to €4,598 (based on a 40-hour workweek) in accordance with our pay scales, depending on your knowledge and experience. You will report to and be accountable to the general manager.
