SPRING Performing Arts Festival is a ten-day international festival featuring innovative dance, theater, performances, and more in the city of Utrecht. You’ll find SPRING in theaters, at unique venues, and in public spaces. At the festival, we present over 25 adventurous and urgent performances from both near and far, which dare to ask questions about the state of the world. The audience can be surprised by new artistic forms and different ways of looking at the world around them. During SPRING, creators and a curious audience come together for exchange, discussion, inspiration, and fun.
In addition to the performances, the festival also hosts the SPRING Academy each year: our platform for artistic exchange, where we connect the next generation of artists, dramaturgs, set designers, and researchers with the festival’s creators. The next edition of the SPRING Performing Arts Festival will take place from May 22 to 31, 2025.
SPRING is more than just a festival: we co-produce various shows, invest in the development of national and international artists, organize year-round events in Utrecht under the SPRING Days banner, and host residencies.
SPRING will receive ongoing funding from the Performing Arts Fund, the City of Utrecht, and the Province of Utrecht for the 2025–2028 period. SPRING has an annual revenue of over €1.6 million and employs six full-time staff members (4.8 FTE). In the months leading up to and during the festival, approximately 20 independent contractors and 55 volunteers also work for SPRING.
