The Public Engagement Team conducts educational programs and guided tours throughout the country and at its permanent location in The Hague. The team consists of a large pool of staff members who can be assigned to various programs and target groups, both in The Hague and elsewhere in the country.
What will you be doing as a day coordinator?
As a Day Coordinator at ProDemos, you will oversee our day-to-day operations. Your hands-on support ensures that our educational activities in The Hague and at schools, provincial offices, courts, and municipalities run smoothly. You are committed to the excellent execution of our programs and help ensure that our guests receive a professional, safe, and welcoming experience.
You resolve issues and serve as the primary point of contact for our educational guides during the execution of their program. In addition, you maintain regular contact with our partner organizations, such as the Senate and House of Representatives, and assist teachers and other guests. Your work focuses primarily on the present and the immediate future. You identify larger, recurring, and systematic bottlenecks and report them to the Public Team leadership, contributing ideas and advising on possible solutions.
What will you be doing?
- You will handle the organizational preparations for the day, open and close the facility, and ensure that the necessary materials are available for carrying out the programs.
- You will lead the morning and evening meetings.
- Ensures the efficient execution of the schedule for the current and following day. Ensures that the scheduling systems are up to date and makes changes as needed.
- You provide operational guidance to counselors and offer support and a listening ear when needed.
- You will assist visitors, faculty, and partners (both internal and external) when they contact you with questions or issues.
- You serve as a key link between office staff and program coordinators. For example, you are able to effectively convey the program coordinators’ experiences to the Education or Projects departments.
- You will participate in working groups and focus groups to develop and improve our educational programs and support systems.
- You identify and report issues in day-to-day operations and make recommendations to the team leaders in the Public Department to improve the process.
- To stay in touch with day-to-day practice and keep up with current developments, you will regularly observe the various programs and/or occasionally lead a program on your own.
Who are you?
You have strong problem-solving skills, are proactive, and have a forward-thinking mindset. Is a school running late, is an employee unavailable, or are visitors asking difficult questions? You handle these situations with ease, remaining calm and solution-oriented. You have experience as a troubleshooter, where you have to juggle many tasks daily and switch quickly between various activities. Experience in a coordinating role is a plus.
You help foster a positive and safe work environment at ProDemos and know how to motivate our counselors.
You share ProDemos’s mission and goals. You can quickly adapt to working in a political and administrative environment. You are also able to handle difficult conversations—for example, with teachers and visitors—in a clear and welcoming manner.
In addition, you have a basic first aid certification or are willing to obtain one in the near future.

Availability
- You must be available for at least 18 hours per week (spread over 2 days) and willing to work on weekends about once every 4 weeks, as well as occasionally on holidays or public holidays.
- In addition, we ask that you be available for on-call duty by phone after your workday, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. or 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., including on weekends.
- We are counting on your flexibility to cover for colleagues during peak periods, emergencies, and when colleagues are absent, in addition to your regular shifts throughout the year.
What do we offer you?
- An interesting and varied work environment.
- A temporary contract for 20 hours per week for a period of one year. Subject to satisfactory performance and barring unforeseen circumstances regarding staffing, an extension is a possibility.
- Salary in accordance with the Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement, Scale 8 (minimum €2,501 and maximum €3,494), based on a full-time position of 36 hours per week. The starting salary depends on education and experience.
- A flexible spending allowance (in the form of salary or vacation hours) equivalent to approximately 19% of the annual salary.
- An on-call allowance under the Social Work Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Full reimbursement of your commuting expenses based on second-class public transportation fares.
