More about this organization
The Rijksmuseum’s courtyard, featuring red-brick buildings, white modern additions, and a glass canopy.

Everyone knows the Rijksmuseum as the Netherlands’ premier museum. Did you know that behind the scenes lies a large, professional organization with approximately 750 employees? As a Ticket Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in optimizing the Rijksmuseum’s online ticket sales by serving as a specialist.

The Rijksmuseum

The Rijksmuseum is the Netherlands’ premier museum of art and history, with a collection of over 1 million objects from and about the Netherlands, spanning from the Middle Ages through the 20th century. We are deeply rooted in society, which is reflected not only in our partnerships and exhibitions but also in our commitment to collecting and presenting the collection from multiple perspectives. We strive for diversity in our teams to achieve this.
Within the Communications and Marketing department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Rijksmuseum’s online ticketing process. In doing so, you will make a significant contribution to the overall visitor experience by continuously working to improve the customer journey for visitors to the physical museum.
In this role, you will ensure a complete and accurate offering of all tickets, programming, and related items in the ticketing section of our website. Stakeholder management is key in this role; in consultation with the various departments, you will continuously monitor the ticketing process, offerings, and programming uptake, and implement adjustments and optimizations (or have them implemented) where necessary. In addition, you will contribute to the development of departmental policy by drafting and executing annual plans and projects aimed at optimizing the ticketing section and related processes.
You will be working in the Digital Marketing & Campaigns Subdivision of the Communications & Marketing Department. This department is responsible for all of the Rijksmuseum’s marketing activities, both online and offline.
You have a strong personality and demonstrate ownership. You act proactively and contribute to finding solutions. We are looking for someone:

  • With a bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing or business administration;
  • With at least 3 years of experience with similar ticketing processes and/or systems;
  • Who has a good command of spoken and written Dutch and English;
  • Who has experience coordinating projects;
  • Who has experience with budget monitoring;
  • Someone who enjoys hands-on work but is also capable of strategic thinking;
  • Who is independent, enterprising, and of high moral character.
The world is changing, and we are changing with it.
We are committed to putting our employees first. How does that show in our company?
  • A gross monthly salary of up to €3,849 based on a 36-hour workweek (scale 9 of the museum collective bargaining agreement);
  • 8% vacation pay and 3.4% year-end bonus;
  • 194 vacation hours per calendar year;
  • Full reimbursement of travel expenses starting at 5 km (up to a maximum of €345). The costs you incur when you park your bike in a secure bike rack at the station will be reimbursed;
  • The freedom to alternate between working from home and working in the office, including a budget to set up your home office to your liking;
  • Opportunities for personal development thanks to our wide range of online training courses;
  • A one-year contract, with the intention of extending it;
  • Participate in various government-sponsored events and sports activities, such as the Government Hockey Tournament and the Government Run;
  • After your probationary period, you will receive a Museum Year Card that grants you unlimited access to 450 museums in the Netherlands. You are always welcome at the Rijksmuseum with one guest.
