About Health & Performance
The Health & Performance Department puts students first and helps produce competent graduates with knowledge of the body, health, and training. This knowledge and training contribute to optimal performance and the ability to take charge of one’s own health during their studies and in their subsequent career.
Health & Performance provides physical support to students through walk-in consultation hours for physical therapy, manual therapy, Mensendieck exercise therapy, and nutritional counseling. In addition, the department offers classes in anatomy and injury prevention, mental skills, nutrition, and physical fitness. For students with an injury who are unable to attend regular classes, guidance is provided by the Mensendieck exercise therapist, and transition classes are available. The physical screenings conducted at the beginning of the first and second years for dance students form the basis of their personal physical profiles. Finally, research is also part of Health & Performance.
