Are you a pragmatic, hands-on coordinator with a passion for social justice and diversity in the arts? Do you want to help build a more inclusive arts community? Apply now for the position of Coordinator of the SJDA Research Group!
You take a pragmatic, hands-on approach. You understand the importance of collaboration and the complexity of a university of applied sciences comprising six different academies. Naturally, you have an affinity for the topics the SJDA Research Group is working on, as well as for (art) education or activism and community organizing. You are a self-starter, curious, and proactive person who finds fulfillment in providing support.
You have several years of work experience, primarily gained through project-based work, preferably in an educational setting. As a result, you have a general theoretical understanding of education and business operations, as well as insight into the needs of the education sector. You have attained a higher vocational education (HBO) level of thinking through your studies and/or work experience. You have no trouble planning and organizing all the logistics surrounding the Research Group’s processes. You are committed and find satisfaction in ensuring that every detail is taken care of.
You will coordinate, consult on, and provide support for various research projects, workshops, lectures, seminars, events, and educational projects. You will play a key role in providing information in the broadest sense of the word, both internally and within the professional field. You will also serve as the central point of contact for administration, finances, documentation, and reporting. You will manage budgets, monitor deadlines, and organize meetings for our community council or a summer school. You will work closely with the associate professor and the communications officer.
The Social Justice and Diversity in the Arts research group is part of the Amsterdam University of the Arts and was established by Aminata Cairo (research group leader) and Rosa te Velde (associate research group leader). The research group aims to contribute to the development of knowledge regarding social justice within artistic practice, education, and research, both within the Amsterdam School of the Arts (AHK) and beyond. The research team conducts practice-oriented research that contributes to the creation of inclusive arts education, art education, and an inclusive and just arts and culture sector. The research group has developed a research approach for all its projects centered on five pillars: relationality, temporality, transformation, cost, and joy. The research group is currently in a transitional phase leading to a new research group leader, a role you will help shape.
